Foie gras

I agree with the previous reviews regarding this as an excellent place for Foie gras. We spent two weeks in Budapest for dental treatment so we got to know many good restaurants in Budapest. Very nice restaurant with special care dedicated to foie gras and to dish presentation. Good wine selection with a nice and competent sommelier.

Welcoming staff, lovely presentation, tasty food. Great combination for a pleasant evening out in Budapest. In a quiet location, unfortunately - no outdoor seating on a lovely summer evening. They are known for their foie gras - I'm not a fan, but my dinner mates did enjoy their tastings.

Elegantly simple and comfortable dining room. Knowledgeable service. Lovely presentation of foods on plate. Deliciously prepared foie gras dishes, some creative twists. Enjoyed a Tokai with the goose liver and a beautiful red/Merlot Gere Attila SOLUS 2009, recommended by the sommelier...very aromatic, great depth and backbone, yet not another French/CA wannabe. Very convenient, a few blocks from the chain bridge.... More

Visited with a large group of 10. Nice atmosphere. Waiter was very attentive. Food was very good and tasty...not awesome though. Could've used a larger portion though. Informative sommelier. Service was attentive and presentations were nice. They had an interesting foie gras selection as a starter. Appetizer, dinner, desserts, cocktails and 3 bottles of wine came to $50 per person.... Went to the Tigris restaurant with a large group of 10 people. Service was very attentive. Food was very good, not awesome. Atmosphere was comfortable. Had a good number of specials. Was confused about some of the Hungarian wines but the sommelier was informative. Great dessert selections. Drinks, 3 bottles of wine, apps, dinner and dessert came to about $50.

Tigris is one of the best restaurants in Budapest--offering excellent cuisine, service ambiance and wine at a great price. Food: All three of courses were exceptional. The food was Hungarian--but not too Hungarian--that will appeal to foodies as well as anyone who enjoys a gastronomic experience without the pretense. The seasoning, flavor and presentation were all spot on. Good selection.... More

After a great F1 weekend, we ate here (group of four). The food and wine together with attentive service made this a most memorable evening. We tried a selection of Fois Gras in addition to the salmon ravioli and then two of us had lamb and two the beef. Everything was simply awesome and we will be back when we... More

This place deserves its Michelin rating - and, since it's in Hungary, the prices are about half what you might expect in London or other Western capitals. The goose leg I had was delicious and so too were the other dishes my family chose, including venison, beef and duck. The restaurant has all the accoutrements one expects of a top... More

Best foie gras ever eaten! Also excellent wine advice! Very good ervice as well. One of the best culinary experiences I've ever had. Not cheap, but worth every cent. When I'm back in Budapest, this will be the place I'll visit again.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
