Tigris is one of the best restaurants in Budapest--offering excellent cuisine, service ambiance and wine at a great price. Food: All three of courses were exceptional. The food was Hungarian--but not too Hungarian--that will appeal to foodies as well as anyone who enjoys a gastronomic experience without the pretense. The seasoning, flavor and presentation were all spot on. Good selection.... More

After a great F1 weekend, we ate here (group of four). The food and wine together with attentive service made this a most memorable evening. We tried a selection of Fois Gras in addition to the salmon ravioli and then two of us had lamb and two the beef. Everything was simply awesome and we will be back when we... More

This place deserves its Michelin rating - and, since it's in Hungary, the prices are about half what you might expect in London or other Western capitals. The goose leg I had was delicious and so too were the other dishes my family chose, including venison, beef and duck. The restaurant has all the accoutrements one expects of a top... More

Best foie gras ever eaten! Also excellent wine advice! Very good ervice as well. One of the best culinary experiences I've ever had. Not cheap, but worth every cent. When I'm back in Budapest, this will be the place I'll visit again.

I went here with a friend during our visit to Budapest, and ate about 5 different dishes with goose liver (check the menu... Oh, the creativity!)- as a fan of goose liver, I must say I enjoyed it a lot. The Dobos Cake was perfect, and I strongly recommend it. It is more of the gourmet style, which usually isn't... More

Anyone visiting Budapest would do well to dine at Tigris. We had several Hungarian vintage wines, all excellent, and the pates we were served as starters were truly exceptional. For bashful non-Hungarian speakers like us, it was wonderful to be guided through all our courses and wines by very friendly staff who spoke perfect English. Highly recommended.

The four pate sampler was excellent. I had the beefo special which was good, though I prefer the goulash at Aszu. The trout also was also good. The chocolate desert cake was excellent. And who knew Hungarian wines were excellent? This was another great recommendation from the concierge at the Hotel Intercontinental.

Great food, wine (one of the oldest restaurants, 2009-2015 Michelin Guide recommendation) and service with staff speaking fluent English and Russian (apparently some other languages as well). Foie Gras is absolutely delicious. Close to touristic routes although not as crowded as other restaurants; works days-evenings; was closed on one particular Sunday in July 2015 (don't know if always closed on... More

We were asked to join a new acquaintance for dinner. We were very delighted that they chose this restaurant. We were please to see that the prices were actually not expensive as anticipated! The restaurant was very classy and the service was excellent. The presentation of our meal was lovely. The meal was tasty as was the wine. Would not... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
