Our son invited me to the Hungary F1 grand prix in July 15 and my wife booked us a table at the Micheln rated Onyx restaurant in Budapest. My wife and enjoy visiting top quality restuarants and in fact we will travel hundreds of kilometers just to experience top rated micheln restaurants. Having... read more

What can I say, the tasting menu with the wine pairing was outstanding! The sunflower ice cream and plum desserts were some of the best I've ever had. My husband and I are foodies and we absolutely loved this place. Definitely visit! Worth the money.

We made a lunch visit. Impeccable service. It is a classy place with an including feel. Our food was small consisted of small explosion, paired with good Hungarian wines. We both preferred the boar cheek over the fish. In the end of the meal we talked some about wine, and told our waiter that we are going to Eger and... More

We booked our dinner at Onyx from home, as we were dying to try it and it was my treat for my husband for our anniversary. The place is stunning, with a modern, elegant decor, with a black and grey palette that I really enjoyed. Servers were helpful, experienced and knowledgeable, not to mentioned that they were so nice to... More

Onyx should be on the 'must visit' list of anyone who values excellent food and first class service. The tasting menu is an inventive and imaginative culinary delight from start to finish. Each and every dish is a surprising combination of flavours. The venison is exquisite. The vast selection of breads has been mentioned elsewhere and rightly so. The wines... More

Even though it started in 2007, the decor would please Mr Putin, in its last-century Middle European styling. But the food was good, with just a few comments The starter of Goose Liver was actually pate. This is fundamental bad menu writing, as real foie gras, quickly seared is a totally different product from pate made from goose livers. The... More

Be prepared to be overwhelmed. The bread cart offering over 15 varieties of bread. The "little presents of food in between courses". The wonderful wine selection and the food that filled your eyes with beauty and made your taste buds jump for joy. Excellent service and a beautiful restaurant. Do not miss the opportunity to dine here.

Great food, wine, bread, service, and presentation! It was the best meal we had in Budapest and the venison was delicious.

Prepare to be overwhelmed with wonderful food, a ridiculous bread cart, excellent service and beautiful wine. Our Onyx tasting menu has been the best meal for my wife and me in 2015. When we booked Budapest as our vacation destination I did not expect such great and tasty food and wine. I am already looking forward to a return trip... More

Food was insanely good here and the service was unbelievably excellent! This is a very fancy restaurant, though we were very casual at the time, they still treated us with a wonderful hospitality! By the way, desert was amazing!

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
