Good food, but charged us for extras without telling us

Onyx delivered on the 1* Michelin food promise, but charged us for many extras which they hadn't informed us on. They didn't offer us, but put in front of us - later we found out they charged us. A bit dissapointing for a good night out.

Food and service are excellent. By now the best restaurant I've tried in Budapest. On the other hand, price is so high that I cannot but give it a low rate. We had a degustation menu which the overall rate is 5* for around 100€ each. Drinks had to be ordered appart so at the end it was around 150€... More

Every course was delicious- well flavoured and so carefully considered. We had all the wine pairings with our dishes, which were truly a revelation, especially the white with our veal! The lunch menu is excellent value. This is a must for a trip to Budapest. Would have to go a long way to beat it!

I ate at Onyx with my girlfriend. From the moment we walked in the service was first class! Flawless decor, food/wine/ bread experts at hand to offer advice. Despite only ordering 2 courses the staff were constantly bringing out delicious nibbles (at no extra cost!) between courses. My personal highlight was the bread trolley, with a section of 15-20 different... More

I've eaten in restaurants all over the world, and it's rare that you still see the old school service and experience that you have at Onyx. The food was inventive and delicious but the service is what really stands out. If you're uncomfortable with the fancy/timed plating/white gloved approach than you'll love it. If you're not, you may find it... More

The food was very good and the service was excellent. I did the wine pairings with the 8 course tasting menu and they were all very good (although 7 glasses of wine was a lot of wine). Allow 3-4 hours for dinner and show up hungry (it's a LOT of food). My only complaint is that they charge you for... More

This place only opens from tues - sat, managed to get a lunch reservation on tuesday. Must say the food is incredibly good and i can understand why reviewers say it should be a 2 Michelin, had the set menu and was a happy bunny spending all my money here before we flew home. Ps worked out so reasonable roughly... More

Onyx was my second Michelin-star experience and my, it was worth every penny, surpassing any meal and dining experience I've ever had. If it were London, it would be overpriced and pretentious - but this was anything but! The lunch menu is reasonably priced and each course has its own wine pairing - we had three courses and five drinks... More

Me and SO had the lunch deal, and we had the goulash soup, salmon, venison and sponge cake. All the dishes were delightful and the wine recommendations was sublime. I will highly recommend ONYX to family and friends travelling to Budapest!
