Cheap food

Food is not bad. Big portions at affordable prices. We had stir fried pork (not too sure about the name on the menu, 2nd pork item on the menu), it was pretty good. My friends had fish soup and other variations of fish and they did not like it. In general, meat is better than fish. The service is... read more

I've been living close by all my life and never understood why this restaurant is so popular. True it's not too expensive and the portions are fine, but the food has been very unremarkable every time (I've been there a few times in the past 15 or 20 years). It's OK, not bad, but not better than average either.

This restaurant serves authentic Hungarian food in delicious huge dishes for an excellent price. It's possible to find basic and fancy dishes as well. They also have excellent draught beer (Pilsner Urquell).

My partners family have been going to this restaurant for years. It's right around the corner from the family home on the Danube. It's always busy when we walk past, which is usually a great sign of the quality. Large section of excellent food, local wines, sweet decor and friendly staff. They speak English but it's nice if you learn... More

You can be assured of a great meal whenever you go to this restaurant and the prices are very reasonable. They also have take-outs. Sometimes it is difficult to get a table b/c SO MANY people go there, including tourist groups.

Pozsonyi has been a classic for hearty and good old-school hungarian food, at a reasonable price. The decor is charmingly rustic. I've been there twice in the past month (after a long time of not going), and it lived up to my memories and expectations. I had their roast duck, which was delicious, though could feed a small army; also... More

The restaurant is located in a very busy part of Budapest, having a nice little terrace outside. It serves traditional Hungarian dishes tasting great, in pretty big portions. We had Hunter's stew with bread-dumplings and peppers stuffed with meat. The food will impress both the locals and the tourist. The locals will find food prepared like at home in their... More

My partner and I felt incredibly lucky to have chanced upon this delightful little place, it was about to close up for the night. We chose very quickly, although the staff there didn't pressure us to do so. My partner had a bean and ham casserole, which she thought was delicious, I had the pork chop stuffed with brain (hmm),... The portions are huge and it is very easy on your wallet but the food failed to impress. We had the beef and bean goulash soup to start which was the best dish of our meal and one I would recommend (We shared one bowl assuming mains would be large. We had beef goulash and braised beef in a vegetable... More

My sister and I have travelled to Budapest 5 times over the past 7 years, and we still head to the Pozsonyi for our measure of "comfort food" à la hongroise. We may have eaten now at fancier more "gourmet" restaurants, but if we're in the Margit hid Pest side of the city again, back I'd go for another late... More
