Christmas is special everywhere but a return to this jewel of a seaside village just down the road from Portoroz and less than an hour from Trieste, Italy is even more so. We live in nearby Friuli. After many trips to Pirano and to the two Pavel restaurants, we are still amazed at the quality of the place for its... More

Piran was our first coastal stop after having travelled inland in Croatia and Slovenia for a week, so seafood was a must for dinner. We enjoyed the seafood platter for 2, which provided 3 types of fish, squid, and salt water crayfish - all were fresh and delicious, especially washed down with local Rose wine.

We were there with 3 kids during August 9pm and the restaurant was full. After half hour waiting I asked the personal to bring us at least the menu. They were unfriendly and told they have no capacity, because of not sufficient personal.

This is a busy restaurant on the sea front and caters for passing tourists. Service could have been more helpful -the food was fine, not special but certainly ok, Again my friend and I had pasta and she had fish. The salad-as everywhere- was large and fresh. Good local white wine.

Waiter seemed to ignore me after I started to order in english. Food was decent but service wasnt. After i made the payment, waiter took the rest of the money as a tip without offering it back, of course i would have given tip but him taking 5 euros in his pocket without saying anything felt quite rude. We went to Pavel 2 as recommended by our taxi driver. It was the best seafood meal in our Adriatic journey. As we got there after 2:30pm on week day, we were the only customers there and were well served by the humorous boss. The seafood plate is huge with fishes, scampis and squids,. All are fresh and taste nice.... More

Went there for lunch with my wife. The seafood risotto was freshly prepared and good. The seafood plate for two was huge and very good. The scenery was terrific and the service was also excellent. Not the best seafood restaurant we have visited, but well within the top 10.

Situated on the main seafront walk, Pavel 2 has the standard seafood fare. It looks like a place local families (Slovene, Italian and Croatian) come for big family meals and so a particular joy is to watch as they select from the freshly caught fish for their table to eat. The portions are well sized - we had squid and... More
