This place was a great find. It is more home cooking than pretentious, but every course was good. The mushroom gnocchi and the horse with truffles were both divine. Three courses and wine for two for under €100. Our waiter was excellent, too, recommending food and wine to our tastes in perfect English.

I checked TA before and glad I chose Spajza for dinner. Courtyard seating is limited, better to make a reservation. Friendly, professional, multilingual staff. The food was excellent. I had duck breast with figs and vegetables. Everything was to the point. Cover charge (i.e. silverware, usually fabric napkins, etc.) is widely common in better restaurants in Slovenia and Croatia. Prices... More

This restaurant is situated Gornji Trg almost opposite the Church of St Florian. It is a very attractive and quiet part of the city and when we were walking in the area on a Sunday,we never dreamt for a moment that we ought to make a reservation for a meal later that evening. Consequently, when we turned up and were told... More

My wife and I just happened to stumble into Spajza. From the outside it looks nothing special, however it has a lovely outdoor courtyard. The food was very good and I see some people say it is very expensive but 20/25 Euro for a T Bone Steak? That seems a fair price to me. The staff were pleasant. The desserts... More

This place was a real treat - local food in gourmet preparations, dedication to quality and presentation, very high level of service. My mother-in-law loved the venison salami and the waiter called to find out where she could purchase it and went out of his way to help her get some. The rooms are all cozy and rustic and very... We had a wonderful meal at Spajza and felt that it reflected very good value. Of course one can find much cheaper meals but our tasting menu was particularly elegant and we also were able to taste local wines that are completely unavailable in Australia. The waiter was extremely informative and we felt the atmosphere was friendly, fun and lively.... More

The Spajza ticks most of the boxes, lovely décor, good atmosphere, very good food, but it is so expensive for what you get. There was also an air of pretentiousness exuded by the staff who served us which irked even more. No, there are far better value for money restaurants located in the heart of the town, restaurants which will... More

I went to Spajtza with my colleagues. we all chose different kinds of courses and one of us chose a 4 courses menu. all courses were good but quantities were not fair even if prices were quite expensive. Courses are presented in proper way and service is very good

This restaurant makes you feel at home from the moment you enter the main front door. The wooden old floor, the earthy colors used , even the creaking parquet makes you feel at home at the beginning of the century. An old and surely now very expensive Ham slicer gives an extra touch to the whole ambiance. you enter the... More

Staying at the Grand Union downtown myself and a business buddy of mine asked the staff where to go for lunch. They recommended Spajza for their good slovenian food. We ordered the lunch menu they had on the board outside with fair expectations given the recommendation. The reality was beyond those expectations. We had green peas soup, home made garlic... More
