This place was chosen by my friend who trusts that Spajza offers the best possible octopus carpaccio in Slovenia. In spite, we finally have chosen a beef tatar for two. Although I ate beef tartar in several countries outside Hungary this was something different. Very nice clean minced meat with cucumber and pepperonis. The restaurant has several specialities, among them,... More

We had the fish degustation menu and it was surprising and excellent. Not cheap by Slovenian standards but great value for money anyway. We paid 130 € for 2 5 course menu's + all the trimmings.

What a great place. The amuse bouche was a slightly sweet shredded beef under thin layers of Parmesan. We shared everything: a perfectly cooked ink risotto with cuttlefish, a delicious goose breast carpaccio with truffles, but the spinach gnocchi with truffles and monkfish was surprisingly a little bland. The sauces on our duck and lamb entrees were both equally amazing,... More

This restaurant offers a fantastic atmosphere and a great service. The food was tasty but freshness quality didn't impress us particularly. The scallops consistency was watery and the lamb parfait dry and not really fresh. It looks like they try an upper scale cuisine, but neglect the quality of ingredients.

We were very keen to try Spajza's version of horse meat dishes. Both the Carpaccio of horse meat (starter) and the steak (main course) were very good. The service was very good, too; polite, explaining everything in detail. The venue is well appointed and very tastefully arranged and decorated and there is a lovely courtyard, too when the weather is... More

I have enjoyed eating at this place on one night each in the last three years. Good atmosphere, very good food, good and friendly service. Very popular so best to reserve a table, particularly if you want to eat in the courtyard. One would expect to pay more for the good quality of the food. However they will offer you... More

The service was impeccable at this quaint restaurant, matched only by the divine food that was served. A must try is the region specialty - horse meat accompanied by one of the country's excellent wines. The home made spinach gnocchi with monk fish, honey mushrooms and truffle just melts in the mouth. Medium herbed lamb in cognac was served alongside... More

We arrived quite late and the waitress asked the chef if we could still be served. Unfortunately this was not possibble anymore and she suggested to come back the next day. When we told her that would not be possible, as it was our last evening in the city, she immediatly returned to the chef, who then asked her to... More

This place was a great find. It is more home cooking than pretentious, but every course was good. The mushroom gnocchi and the horse with truffles were both divine. Three courses and wine for two for under €100. Our waiter was excellent, too, recommending food and wine to our tastes in perfect English.

I checked TA before and glad I chose Spajza for dinner. Courtyard seating is limited, better to make a reservation. Friendly, professional, multilingual staff. The food was excellent. I had duck breast with figs and vegetables. Everything was to the point. Cover charge (i.e. silverware, usually fabric napkins, etc.) is widely common in better restaurants in Slovenia and Croatia. Prices... More
