This restaurant is located in the center of the main square and main tourist attraction of Wroclaw. Looks very interesting and welcoming from outside however when you decide to eat there it is a big disapointment. Very bad quality of food and service. You can find some negative reviews of this restaurant on other travel directories. I think this shall be presented here as a warning for all foreign tourists to avoid this place. Great location and good outlook seems to be a trap which can destroy your holidays in such beautiful place as Wroclaw.

An evening visit to Piwnica Swidnicka and it was very enjoyable. A lot of history and apparently the old restaurant in Europe. A the time we visited it was I'd say quiet but a reasonable number of customers to give it a nice atmosphere. A good menu with traditional Polish dishes as well as more regular meals, good beers and... More

The biggest regret is that I haven't read reviews about this place before coming in. Staff gives you impression that you are not welcome there, ignoring you. Reading newspaper for staff behind the bar is more important.

They said it's the oldest restaurant in Europe, the atmosphere was very beautiful, but the waiters not so much. It seemed that they didn't want us, we had to guess where we could sit, and then we waited 20 minutes for the menu, another 15 for order and 30 minutes for the food (and the restaurant was half empty!). The... More

they say it's one of the oldest restaurants in Europe, whether it's true or not the fact remains it's one of the most beautiful well reserved underground places I've been to. the entry as well as the interior are very mid-eval style. We were group of 4 people and had to try the place twice so they could find us... More

Whether or not it is in fact the oldest restaurant in Europe (how would anyone know?), the reality is that it's nothing special. The food's OK (my duck was anyway), the mediaeval-style painted seating with hanging canopies is vile, service is bad (slow; a couldn't care less waitress) and it's quite expensive. Leave it to the tour-groups and eat somewhere... More

I went with a group of friends ( 8 people in total) for a meal on saturday 18th Oct 2014. The food was good, the waiter was very friendly and attentive. Overall good value for money. However after we had paid for our meal, we decided to have a drink in the bar adjoining the restaurant. We sat at a... More

I had high expectations given the location and a quick visit during the day. The building is amazing and the manager said we didn't need to book. What a difference come evening time. The rooms were even better than I remembered, then it all went downhill. We were told that it was fully booked and there was no room. After... More

Located in the cellars under the town hall this restaurant has a sumptuously decorated seating area at the back complete with chandeliers and a large general bar style area so there was no problem getting a seat on two occasions. The food is typical Polish fare with some interesting additions (such as rabbit ) and they manage to avoid being... More

If it's not really the oldest pub in Europe, it's definitely one of the coolest looking. Even if you're not going to eat or drink there, just go downstairs and have a look. Great food, drinks, and staff. Love it.
