French Food at it's best

A warm greeting as we were asked where we wanted to sit, Groundfloor, Courtyard or Basement, we chose basement as it was very warm and humid uptop and chilled down below. The food was excellent as it should be as they actually have a qualified French chief in the kitchen. Food and drinks were very... read more

My wife saw something moving on her salad as soon as it was delivered. It was a caterpillar which was very alive and healthy! When we told the waitress our plates were taken away and we were advised we would not have to pay for the main courses. We asked to speak to the Chef. He was too busy to... More

We ate down in the cellar. It was a bit cool that evening for staying in the courtyard. Brilliant menu, and if you choose you could have the set menu of three courses for 78zf

La Fontaine came to the rescue during our last night in Kraków when we had terrible (i.e. No food) service at another restaurant on the square. The dining area was located in a brick cellar that provided a cozy atmosphere. The scallop and shrimp ceviche and cheese toast appetizers were great. I was less impressed with my main entree -... La Fontaine is a upmarket restaurant that serves nice food in a nice setting. Friendly and professional service. According to their leaflet they have attractive accommodation too, but we did not stay here, probably next time at Krakow.

Went to La Fontaine twice during 2012 so another visit was top of my 'to do' list on another recent visit to Krakow. The interior was pretty much as I remember it. Great attention to detail. The waitress moving quietly about ensuring customers were well attended to and glasses, cutlery and chairs etc at vacant tables were checked methodically. We... More

Have eaten in recent trips 2013 and march 2015...restaurant was recently done up but thank god the food never changed. Once again a glorious meal in a quite sublime setting. Sent some friends here at the end of may and they had a fantastic meal. This place is at the real good quality end for food but with very reasonable... More

We were looking for something a little different from the usual. After looking at lots of menu boards, La Fontaine was the last one before my husband was getting ready to eat his own hand. We couldn't have chosen better. After going down some stone steps to a small reception area (for their b&b) we were guided through the underground... More

Service is good but they have serious problems in the kitchen. Meat is dry and vegetables tasted very sour.

We have just returned from Krakow in Poland whilst we were there we had some really nice food but we must say that the food in La Fontaine (which is in a cellar) was absolutely fabulous and so unusual we liked the food the setting and the staff were so friendly and professional, we are returning to Krakow in August...
