Just stumbled on la fontaine by accident. Went down the stairs to be greeted by a lovely young lady she gave us a small tour of the place and asked us where we wanted to sit .It was a labyrinth of underground fabulousness. The menu was an eclectic mix of French and Polish cuisine . I opted for the trio... More

The food was very tasty and there was a lot of choice on the menu. We were given free aperitif starters and a liquor after. The portions were sizeable. Nice ambience, in a cellar underground. Service very good and with a smile would recommend.

I spotted this restaurant on the way to our hotel during a recent trip to Krakow. We then returned later for our meal and so glad we did! La Fonatine is a lovely, ambient restaurant and staff were very polite and attentive. We were brought small appetisers (free) of salmon and toasts. For starters, I had the French onion soup,... we came today before official Valentines Day reservations. Even though chef, busy with other, preparations managed to compe up with for me: Marinated Roe Deer Venison Goulash and Wild Board Fillet Accompanied by Potato Flakes and Two Sauces - this is what blew my senses! For that quality, it is not that xpensive 48 zl. We did not have any... More

I really wanted to try this place after seeing the great reviews and the pictures looked fabulous...definitely my kind of food! However, it never quite reached my high expectations. Taken downstairs, the setting looked great - exposed brick work, low lighting and nice atmosphere with the restaurant being fairly busy. But we were taken into a seperate, empty room which... More

We happened on La Fontaine after many hours of walking around Krakow. It is right off the main market square. Only about six pm on a Friday night, so when we descended down the stairs into the vaulted ancient rooms, we were one of only a few people there. The establishment is part of a B&B and apartment which we... More

I have eaten regularly at La Fontaine since it opened over ten years ago. The food has always been outstanding: beautifully presented, well-prepared and tasty. Pierre prepares many wonderful dishes from the South of France with style and flair. The wine list is reasonably priced - a St Emilion Grand Cru at 160 or so PLN is truly a bargain.... More
