My girlfriend and I had been in Krakow for about 5 days. Our accommodation was exactly across the road from Trzy Papeyczki and the neighboring Corleone (the two share a garden, an unusual thing - you can walk from one place to the other), but...we had never walked in - you know, we wanted the whole explore the city experience.
But the interior - visible from the outside - is out of a rustic coloring book. A cozy little house with a beautiful, leafy garden outside. A corner of Italy, as I’m sure the owners had intended.
I went for the daily menu (wanting to try more than one thing, great deal for 19.90 PLN) which consisted of pumpkin cream soup with bacon and cheese, a choice of pizza (capricciosa) and a pear tart with roast almonds. My other half went for the pumpkin & ricotta canneloni.
The food was great, especially the pumpkin stuff. Great way to start the autumn season. The cannelloni were fragrant, a great mix of flavours and spices. The cream soup was nothing short of amazing, with great texture and crispy bacon.
The pizza, however, was not spectacular. But that may be subjective on my part. I didn’t enjoy the homemade tomato sauce, which I felt was way too strong of a taste and needed a hint of salt. Then again, I’ve always been a fan of “fast” pizza, so it may be that I’m used to something else.
The dessert was pear crumble with a side of fresh sorbet - to die for. Great combination.
Would recommend this for a casual lunch or light dinner with the family or friends - great location, good food. Service could be a little faster, but they’re very polite either way.More
