Recommended by our hotel concierge, this was definitely worth a visit. Great table by the window, charming and comfortable with low beamed ceilings and a polish menu. There was lots on the menu to tempt the palate. In the end I settled for borsch soup (beet root) with dumplings followed by the best trout I have ever tasted. My husband... More

Recommended to us by the receptionist at our hotel, we then checked up on it on Tripadvisor. The reviews seemed to swing from excellent to poor, and we tend to agree with some points from each category. The internal decor was lovely, very homely and warm. The service swung from attentive to being totally ignored. We were served our starters... More

W Starej Kuchni was highly recommend to me, so I was anticipating a good meal. It was not. Every restaurant will have a bad night and clearly this was theirs. The service was dreadful, the food was over cooked and tasteless, and the bread was hard as a rock. I arrive about 1830- (6:30) and walked into an attractive room... More

Only a quick walk from the main market square, the food and the staff here were excellent. We wanted traditional polish food and certainly got it - really lovely. Really nice atmosphere in the place. Open wood stove was fab.

Pre-Warm Charm illuminated by the soft glow of candles and a large wood burning stove midst hanging Polish outfits and handmade decorations and antiques with a cold hard slap of Communist-style customer service. If you can wrestle the ladies in the back from their cigarettes and flirtations/ squabbling with the cook long enough to get to look at you, you... More

we chose this restaurant on our second night in Krakow after wandering into the side streets to look for a meal which wasn't too stodgy. We were shown to a table immediately by a guy in chefs whites and handed menu's. The place has a lovely cottagy feel and is very cosy, we were in no hurry so the slow... More

I recommend W Starej Kuchni if you want to try out traditional Polish cuisine, in a place with cottage-like decoration. The menu is rich and varied. The service is sometimes a bit slow, probably (or in part) because they cook most of the food upon ordering. The prices are fine, even attractive, given the qualityof the restaurant.

I went there once with my friends and family and I really enjoyed it. The second time I came back I was really dissapointed. I took dumplings and not only it was really average, I found sth in my dish that I would prefer not to mention.. so I finished eating. Generally restaurant is too expensive for the quality and... We stumbled across this place 1hour after arriving in krakow. It was approx 4pm and already was busy and ha a welcoming atmosphere. We booked table for few hours later an we're not disappointed when we went back. Food was delicious; would highly recommend the polish plate for a mix of everything. The bill too...'cheap as chips'.
