My wife wanted potatoe pancakes so our search brought us to Ester. Of course we also had dinner - salmon and ghoulash which were also wonderful. Our dessert was the apple pie with ice cream which is a rather simplistic description for a light apple strussel topped with ice cream, whipped cream, blueberries and a nest made from spun honey... We stayed in the Hotel Ester and the food always looked lovely so we decided to eat here on our last night which was also our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed, the food was fabulous. Between us we tried the dumplings, a sirloin steak and the chicken livers. If we had eaten here the first night we would probably... More

After being slightly disappointed by one of the restaurants in the main square, we decided to try the Jewish quarter for some food. Ester was recommended to us by a tour guide, and it was excellent. Between us we ordered the beef cheek, veal, chicken with tzimmes, pork cullet and spinach pancakes. Everything was great, especially the beef cheek! Only... More

The best pork cutlet I have ever eaten. The sour rye soup (with kielbasa) was a flavorful treat. A Klezmer group playing and singing and crowd-watching while we dined on the sidewalk provided great atmosphere.

Friendly place overlooking Kazimierz' main square and the old synagogue. Pleasant music which got my little daughters dancing. For starters we shared herring with some kind of refreshing apple dressing and yummy fried lamb pierogi. Mains were a bit mixed: nice schnitzel and chicken, but the pasta with almonds and raisins was not to my taste.

Chose to eat here on our first night in Krakow having read some good reviews. Disappointed with our main course (dumplings) - big portions but very greasy. Just not to our taste. Pancake dessert though was really tasty. Might just have been unlucky that night. Meal for two was a reasonable price - 117zl.

After a long day of walking to the various locations in Krakow, it was a pleasure to stop and have an excellent meal at Ester's. The staff were top notch and the food was timely. The menu was in both Polish and English, which made selection easy.

We had lunch in the Ester restaurant, as we were looking for a cozy place to eat in the Jewish quarter of Krakow. The restaurant is situated first in the line of other Jewish restaurants, but this one attracted us by the awesome band playing some authentic Jewish music and slightly more reasonable prices. The national Polish soup "zurek" was... More
