This IS the best restaurant in gdansk. Honestly it's not even close, it takes polish cuisine to a whole other level. More expensive than other restaurants in gdansk but it's well worth it. I Recommend the duck.

Inevitably the restaurant was quiet but the food and service were very good. The Tawerna has a nautical theme with models and paintings of boat with plenty of woodwork giving privacy without excluding you from the rest of the restaurant. The menu had a good choice of seafood and more traditional country dishes and the waiter made helpful suggestions from... More

The staff was very accomodating and the wild boar we ordered was excellent. Highly recommended, simply.

We Had different fish dishes here, gratinated white fish, Salomon, soups... Salomon was a little dry but the rest was perfect. Charming old-looking place, reserve a table early in the week if you would like to go here in the weekend. Live piano music. Good riesling wine and very good service. Tried to go back the next day but they... More

Ate dinner here one night with a friend and the food was delicious. I had roast duck with red cabbage and it was well presented and very tasty. My friend had fish which was also excellent. The restaurant was busy but the service was good. There was a pianist playing all evening which created a good atmosphere. The location is... More

You have to try their traditional Zurek soup, it is delicious! The restaurant itself is decorated in Old Polish Style. Very charming atmosphere.

We had a fish meal (halibut filet) at Tawerna. Just one word to say: Perfect! We come from the western part of Norway and know how a good fish meal shall be. Excellent service!

Tawerna is a very pretty place (old-world style) and service is sporadic and inconsistent, but very friendly and competent when they are focused on your table (if that's confusing: they disappear for long periods, seem to suddenly realize they have not come by in awhile, run over and are very good, are friendly and seem like very nice people, and... This is one of the more expensive restaurants in Gdansk, but we wanted a good meal, and that we got. The waiters are always standing in the doorway so if you need something, they will be at your service immediately. I ordered the vegetarian dish, and it was amazing. My friend ordered the salmon dish and she also loved it.... More

Very good old world restaurant with a varied menu(i.e Polish/European) and while the wine list is a little pricey I would strongly recommend for dinner etc.,
