Decided to have a 'functionalist' day in Brno, so started here for lunch; really beautiful setting in wonderful condition. Perfect spot for lunch or coffee combined with a visit to Villa Tugendhat, about 5 minutes' walk away. Good food, reasonably priced. Very little English spoken, but the waiter tried very hard, and somehow it all worked.

Location: Not far from the Villa Tugenthadt is this beautifully restored house from the 20s in the International Style. Here you can experience why Brno is one of the most important places of modern architecture in the 20s and 30s. Only for this it´s worth visiting. We had dinner twice here. The first time we had coffee and deli cake... More

A architecture juwel that you can enjoy drinking a coffee or eating some food. The caffe is not a cheap one but for fans of this style of course a must to visit.

Lovely little cafe, worth visiting if you go to Villa Tugendhat as the style of architecture is similiar. We sat in the lovely garden, but it was nice inside also. Staff were very professional and friendly

A side note: The food is excellent! We've had a duck with dumplings, but the chalk-on-whiteboard menu offers quite some variety, and changes frequently, not least due to the fact they seem to have fresh ingredients for a couple of portions of each dish per day.

Kavarna Era is one of my favorite restaurants in Brno (where I lived for one year). It's located outside of the city center, which means you actually get to visit a real Czech residential neighborhood (and one of the nicest in Brno). The building itself has an interesting inter-war history that is worth looking into for architectural enthusiasts who are... More

Excellent, just around the corner from Vila TUGENDHARD. An absolute must when you visit Brno, both Vila and café.

Can't fault this place really. The menu is all on a chalk board but the waiter translated it perfectly. An easy walk from the villa I would recommend this place for lunch. Seems to get some trade from the uni so probably gets busy in summer. Has a beer garden out the back which I imagine is nice in summer.

I had lunch at Era before my english tour of Villa Tugendhat. It is a great introduction to the architectural features you will see at Tugendhat. The floating staircase is impressive. The menu is written on a chalk board in czech but the staff speaks english. I had the chicken wrap and a beer. The food and service were good.
