Great beer

Great beer, not excellent but good food, typical Czech dishes, large portions, reasonable prices. Unfortunately non smoking area is upstairs so you have to walk through smoking ground floor in and out.

Amazing old restaurant, dark wood , super feel to it. They do traditional Czech dishes, plus many others....I chose (on recommendation from my chpzech friend Svickova an smetana...omg...soooo good, slow roasted beef, in a cream sauce and dumplings, ....it was sweet but fabulous. Sons had schnitzel and husband had a Pilsen goulash, which was beef in a rich dark wine... More

I 've been living for almost 4 years in Brno and visiting Stopkova frequently. One can only think that bad and rude service is something you get used to in favor of good food but there's a line to be drawn. Visited the place yesterday, as always tip toeing around waiters, not to make them upset with an absurd request... More

Had evening dinner here. I had leg of goose with red cabbage and the ubiquitous dumplings. It was pretty good, tasty, if a bit overcooked. This would be a good place to sample Czech food if you were a visitor without Czech hosts as it's easy to find and the menu is in English. I found the atmosphere a bit... More

You will not make a mistake if you book a table to "show off" czech cuisine to non-czech people in Stopkova Pivnice. The chef is making sure that honest, high quality and presentation dishes are flying outt of the kitchen. If you are trying to taste good czech beer, do not go there. Search for small breweries and their signature... More

I visited Stopkova for the 3rd time and it just isn't great. Each time I've got come I find it less inspiring. If you need a bit of food and you really can't be bothered to find somewhere decent this will do. But take the time to search around Brno and you'll find much better. Good beer though. The speciality... More

My friends tried to convince me that I will try the best beer in Czech here just to come with them. I came but since I am not a beer drinker I missed the opportunity to try it. Anyway I believe my friends and I transmit their impressions about the beer which was great while I was sitting with them... More

I have visited Stopkova several times over the years (My wife has family in Brno) always for a drink. Over the Christmas/New Year we stopped here a couple times, it was always busy, but the service friendly and attentive. Our last visit we had a meal, it was really good, traditional Czech food, but I must mention their Steak Tatar... More

My partner and I had the wild boar, which was dry, like chewing on paper tissues. They served us the wrong plate at first, too. Even so, we thought we would leave a tip. Paying by card, the manager had to appear and right from the start he was unfriendly at best. He spoke no English (or refused to do... More
