Great local Czech Food

Pleasant restaurant near our old town hotel. We had just arrived in our Prague hotel from a long flight from the states. Quite frankly we just wanted a quick dinner and then head to bed to get over our jet lag. Our tour guide recommended this restaurant so we tried it. They had outdoor and... read more

Beer is really good, served right condition and temperature . But rest is... Waters are ugly and rude , slow, unfriendly. The food is average , or poor for the price. I ordered duck breast and it was the worst I've ever had.

We were staying at the Prague Marriott so we tried Kolkovna Celnice, which is really, really close and it was pretty good. Just not the best meal we had in Prague. It was average when compared to other meals but much better than those in the USA. We ate late in the afternoon so wanted to eat light so we... More

We wanted to try traditional Czech food in a place that Czech people actually eat. This place was recommended and booked by the concierge at the Hilton. It appeared to be mainly Czech people in the bar area and did not hear a single native English voice which is always encouraging. The staff spoke better English than me so no... More

Visited for lunch per recommendations by hotel concierge. Wings were definitely a good choice but was expected! Goulash was good with tender meat and potato pancakes. The sauce was good as well. At first I thought price was cheap since this was the first restaurant but quickly found out that it is typical price in Prague!

I had the roast duck with delicious sauerkraut. My two sisters split the Old Czech KOLKOVNA platter. We enjoyed a bottle of red Czech wine that our waiter recommended.

Great value restaurant- delicious food, fantastic choice of dishes at reasonable prices and good portion sizes. Good selection of beers, including Czech dark beer. It got very busy towards 8pm but we thought the service was very good given how busy the restaurant was. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Went there on our first evening in Prague wanting to try some Czech food. I really hope this is not what the Czech have to offer because it really was bellow average. The salad was ok and the wings we tried also. The main dishes were edible but that's about it. It all seemed to me very manufactured and not... More

Nice outdoor patio on a beautiful sunny day. Prices slightly higher, service mediocre and requiring gratuity (tips) after receiving poor customer service, incredible.

We picked this venue due to its proximity to the Municipal Hall: it is very popular (also a bit loud) and serves late. We reserved a table in the non-smoking section. I had the meat platter as a starter. The portions are very generous. The classical bohemian food is good here! Wash it down with a Master 13° Semi-Dark Beer...

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred meters long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theaters. National Theater near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
