My partner (Mary Beth) and I had lunch here on 7/16. The Lonely Planet guidebook describes this place as "a plush and chintzy 1930s-style hunting lodge hidden away on a quiet street." It is. MB thinks the restaurant could use a little updating (it's worn around the edges), but part of its charm are the small wooden ducks on the... More

We asked the concierge to recommend a restaurant for our last night in Prague to cap off a great visit. She recommended U modre kachnicky. It could not have been a better evening. There is much more on the menu than duck, but we each had a duck dish. My wife, who ordinarily doesn't care for duck, raved about hers.... More

Wonderful food and wonderful service in the prettiest restaurant we've ever been too. Each course better than the one before. We may go back again this trip.

When you step into U modre Kachnicky you feel like you really are in Old Prague. The room is a bit dark, with heavy drapes and upholstered chairs. It is nice to be in a restaurant that does not feel like it could be in any city in the world. The specialty of this restaurant is duck and all of... More

This is a nice quiet and peaceful place to have dinner. We had made reservations, and got a nice table on the second floor. There was a man playing the piano nearby, and that was a nice touch that really completed such a great atmosphere. The food that we got was very good - a salad with goat cheese to... More

U Modre Kachnicky was recommended buy the concierge at our hotel when we asked for an authentic Czech restaurant. It has the perfect Old World atmosphere and the Czech dishes were wonderful. Most popular are the various duck preparations, with walnut stuffing, glazed with plums, roasted with brussels sprouts and potato pancakes, and a number of venison dishes-- nothing you... More

My wife and I ate here last week. I'm usually not a big fan of duck, but both our orders were very good. I had the duck with walnut stuffing and red and white cabbage. My wife had the flambeed duck brest. For appetizers, I had the duck broth soup for appetizer (very good) and my wife had the salad... More

Restaurant full of history and old times, exactly how you imagine a restaurant in the historic heart of Prague. We had a degustation dinner with French Burgundy wines. It was 6-courses menu based on duck and venison. The food was excellent and the chef surprised us with sorbet of foie gras, Which was excellent in combination Oremus Tokay. You have... More

We've been very well served and the duck was up to the Prague tradition. The atmosphere was cosy. The low point was the waiter: extremely unpleasant. Reservation needed.

Everything about this hotel is really perfect - interior, food, service, atmosphere! Menu is rich with duck dishes - you can order grilled duck, smoked duck, duck confit, duck fillet, salad with duck etc! Fruity sauce (kind of chutney) is absolute must-try! Waiters can speak different languages (english, german, russian and maybe any other ones). You should be ready that... More
