My son loves duck. We were on the train from Berlin googling Prague restaurants and U Modre Kachnicky came up. Though why not take a chance, first because the name is so typically Czech and second because the menu looked so middle european, and when in Rome… errr Prague… My son and I both had a lovely meal. The restaurant... More

Stumbled upon this restaurant also known as the blue duckling and decided to try the 9 course tasting menu, luckily we booked a table as by 8pm it was completely full and people were being turned away. The restaurant was very kooky and we were sat in a booth near the door surrounded by ornaments of ducks, 70s style lampshades... More

Down a quiet side street this 300 year old inn serves proper Czech cuisine - the pork with cracking dumplings and caramelized sprouts (yes sprouts outside Xmas!!) was superb and the wine the waiter selected was lovely. My wife's duck was "the best she had tasted". The ambiance is perfect with space between tables, some would say the decoration is... More

the concierge from our Hotel recommended this nice unique restaurant. We enjoy it very much. The waitress was great and helpful. The dishes from the kitchen real bohemian heavy food. But great taste. At the end, after a half bottle wine, I gave 200 tip. We already left the restaurant and the waitress run behind us to say, that i... More

Nice place but we were looking for some family conversation in a nice place since we will soon all be going different ways... Impossible with the piano music... If you are dining alone, maybe ok....

A bit out of the way, and everyone had booked - the unlucky ones were those who turned up on spec to discover they couldn't get in. The place closes at 11pm. The place is larger than it looks with rooms further in, but we were in the front room. Quaint decor and quality furnishings provided a memorable backdrop to... More

This restaurant was one of the few the receptionist of our hotel suggested and as it was only 5 minutes walking we decided to go. The atmosphere is rather "old fashion", if we cannot say kitsch, with pictures, paintings and any kind of courius stuff hung at the walls. They indulged in the use of heavy cotains. What we were... We visited this restaurant on our last night in Prague, on reccomendation of our tour guide. We were not dissapointed, lovely cosy atmosphere, quick efficient service, which we found was not the norm in Prague, nobody seems to be in a hurry to serve you in the many varied cafe's. However the food was delicious, the wine was strange, although... More

We were two blokes on a Prague trip and just dropped in one evening. This was mid June, but no queue. "U modre kachnicky" is a quirky place, like an old fashion living room, but actually nice. We tried the tasting menu, a very, very Czech "train of dishes", served in an elegant, but not over complicated french style. Simply... More

My partner (Mary Beth) and I had lunch here on 7/16. The Lonely Planet guidebook describes this place as "a plush and chintzy 1930s-style hunting lodge hidden away on a quiet street." It is. MB thinks the restaurant could use a little updating (it's worn around the edges), but part of its charm are the small wooden ducks on the... More
