A great find, tucked away in the Old Town

At a bit of a loss as to where to eat, having tried the restaurants we had shortlisted for your trip we stumbled into "The Blue Duckling" and found a gem of a restaurant that was popular with locals - always a good sign! Shown to a table tucked around the corner we were brought a basket of bread... read more

Of course you have to have duck. I chose wild duck, which was quite dry and tough. Duckling would probably have been better. The appetizers were great as was the dessert.

A real treasure hidden away in Prague. Great food. Ask to sit upstairs near the piano. Pancakes are a great dessert, cooked in front of you.

We have been visiting Prague for years and finally made reservations for U Modre Kachnicky. The food, the wine, and the service was exceptional. We really enjoyed our evening.

We were staying at the Madarine Oriental just next door to this restaurant, we wanted to try Czech food so we decided for this place after looking at a few others. From the outside it does not look like much but once you step in you get into a different world of quirky little rooms, eclectic decor, fresco on the... More

There are two restaurants by this name in different parts of town. I had been to this one previously in 1997 and remembered vividly the decor which is still lovely. However, on this occasion I ordered the wild boar with garlic and whilst not bad in any way just disappointing after the wonderful duck at the other one a couple... More

We booked in advance and were seated in the first room where a pianist played during our dinner adding to the atmosphere. The decor was graduation all, the service unobtrusive, and the meal fantastic...great choice of starters, good mains with husband and son sharing a meat platter for two, whilst the girls opted for duck or salmon. Apple strudel was... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.
