Fine Meal Close to Hotel

Chose to dine here due to location and timing before an evening event. The interior was very mod and uncertain about the connection with the fashion model magazine photography featured on the walls. Service was pleasant and our meals were prepared timely. The best schnitzel I had in Central Europe... read more

Barock seems like a fancy place, and it is. Set in Pařížská street, it better should be! The coffee is good, as is the entourage. Very convenient for a business lunch or coffee. Personnel could be more smiling and more pro-active though, not only tending to guests when they`re paying. Value for money is what you could expect in the... More

But when I have eaten there last time a few years ago, their sushi was excellent. I don't think the management changed, so food should be as good. It's a very hip place, so be prepared for that scene. It's also on the more expensive side.

Picking a restaurant the first night of our stay is always difficult, after walking around most of the afternoon-and hoping to get back to the hotel before too much jet lag sets in. This restaurant is a short walk from the town square/clock tower, across the street from the synagogue. Despite the location and the fact that the doors are... More

The sister restaurant to Pravda (across the street), great food, atmosphere and service. Recommend the Barock Wok for lunch, simply excellent.

To be fair, my family ate here in August so maybe the "scene" is more impressive at another time of the year - but the food was very mediocre. My Asian inspired dish was fine (not great) but my husband (who will eat almost anything with a smile) found his meal to be pretty bad. I definitely wouldn't go out... More

Visited here in April on the recommendation of a former resident of Prague, which gave us high hopes. We reserved a table in advance - needn't have worried as there were only three tables occupied the whole time we were there. Food was pleasant enough but nothing special. We had been recommended a local wine, for which they wanted £6... More

I live right next to Barock (on Parizska) and frequently dine at various restaurants in the area. I have only been to Barock once because it is just not worth visiting. Prices are sky high (Zurich standard, where my 2nd home is) and food and service is just poor. If anyone wants to dine on Parizska I would recommend Cantinetta... More

I was on my visit in Prague for about a week when I was advised to visit this restaurant. The food was great and it does not need any further discussion, it was very high above the average level. The location of the restaurant is excellent. I was just after seeing some tourist places such as Staromestske Square and Charles... More

Went to the restaurant on Sunday evening. The outside temperature was high and, unfortunately, the restaurant does not have air conditioned. We stayed in the terrace. The service was good. The food was also good. For us, given the overall quality, the price was too high.

Staying in Josefov

Neighborhood Profile
Josefov
Josefov houses Prague’s Jewish community. This small neighborhood centered around Široká street is completely surrounded by Staré Město (Old Town). As the former Jewish Ghetto, today all that remains are a few synagogues and the oldest surviving Jewish cemetery in Europe. The narrow streets were once small enough that a person could touch the houses on both sides. You can still feel the dignity and history this neighborhood carries in its legacy as Franz Kafka’s birthplace. Nearby streets are full of kosher restaurants, museums and antique bookstores.
