Quiet Reprieve off the Square

We sought out this restaurant for a late lunch, noting a previous review about their delicious duck. For a wonderful reprieve from the jet and crowds on the square, walk straight through the restaurant to the back, where you will find a garden-like terrace and a restorative peace and quiet. Excellent food and good price but...I ordered the Czech specialties tasting menu and they brought me the main course, duck, omitting two starters and a soup explaining me that the soup would come "after" it.I had to ask twice for them. It's a pity one waiter can spoil like that a nice restaurant with such a good food.

We arrived in late and some dishes were unavailable but I had the duck which was really tasty and my partner had the pork knuckle. Our evening was made by the three fabulous musicians - a violinist, a guitarist and a guy playing the double base - great night. It was very reasonably priced and we were offered a traditional... We were very pleased to happen upon this spot. We had a very warm, friendly welcome to a nice atmosphere. There is live gypsy music from strolling musicians and no cover , which makes things romantic and reasonable. Make sure to order the homemade warm apple streudel with vanilla cream. We will definaately go back for it and more. So... More

We walked past this restaurant several times and finally went in for a late dinner. After eating heavily for days, we wanted something light. We split the tomato soup with basil puree, the baked trout stuffed with thyme and a plate of grilled vegetables. The tomato soup was full of flavor; tasted like it had just been made with fresh... Although probably overpriced, this restaurant was lovely. We were there on a Friday night, so they had a "Gypsy" band playing, and the duck I had was moist and great tasting. I am used to duck at Asian restaurants, and it's normally dry and chewy, so this was great.

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
