We went to this restaurant at about midday for lunch. We were lucky to have been so early as a lot of tables had been booked & the place filled up very quickly. Food was good, simple fare.

I live and work in Prague. I am a foreigner. It's been awhile now (8 months). I have been to millions of Czech hospodas and for sure this is not the best, nor the worst. There is a lot of fuzz just because lots of tourists, that comprehensibly do not know anything about real Czech couisine, overrated it. The food... More

The interior of the restaurant was great! Long aisle with busy waiters/waitresses walking up and down serving food. Cool beer sheet they have to mark the number of beers ordered - with an impossible option of 99 beers. Food was good, but slightly small in portion. The fried cheese was amazing. The best thing to rave about though was the... More

Lokal is the best choice if you want to see a typical Czech hospoda (pub) in its best. You can go there just for drinks (beer and palenka!) or have a great lunch or dinner there. Whole place is designed as a "retro" 70s or 80s hospoda with the top lager beer, great and real Czech cuisine and absolutely professional... More

Lokal in Dlouha offers traditional Czech food and beers in a modern, clean beer-hall atmosphere. Czech food tends to be on the hearty, non-vegetarian side. Prices are on the low side, quality of the food was good. Lokal is frequented by locals and attracts a young crowd. My recommendation over the tourist traps in downtown.

The restaurant in the heart of the city is one of the best offering local cuisine and excellent Czech beer. “Knedlicki” together with simple combinations will provide you with great and fresh meal you will be appreciating. The ambient of the restaurant reflects (I guess) typical Czech restaurant’s interior from in the late 1800s and beginning of 1900s. The waiters... More

We came for lunch on a Friday, and then again for lunch on Monday. The rotating menu means you can come daily and not eat the same thing twice. Both times the place was full of both locals and tourists. We started with soup and moved on to some of the traditional main dishes. The soup was delicious, homemade, cheap... More

My german friend urged us to come here for its beer and roast duck. We were first greeted by its huge interior space, it's hard to imagine behind the little green door there is big world by itself. We ordered the duck and beer, of course, and few other dishes. And my friend made such comment after the meal "Prague... More

Have been visiting this one for over 10 years, whenever in Prague. Restaurants come and go, this one stays. And delivers, over and over, great meals and drinks, at a reasonable price. Staff does it right, chefs are consistent...food has always been tasty. This is NOT a tourist trap, unlike so many others in that area. When stuck for an... More

Got recommended this place by a Prague local colleague, went in at 8pm Friday night... Not a chance! Thought we'd try again at 6pm Saturday night.... hmmm. Staff were initially unhelpful and told us that unless we'd booked there wasn't a chance in hell we'd get a table for two. Pretty unhelpful. However bolstered from a day of grog and... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
