We arrived in Prague old town in January and there was a couple of inches of snow very pretty and seasonal. As I was due a hip replacement on my return to the UK we decided that a restaurant close to our hotel was a good idea. Just across the road there was Chez Marcel a French restaurant not Czech... Nice place but with a sort of French attitude you don't understand why? It could be more French or better to stay Czech.

My moules gratinee starter was exceptionally good. My duck breast main course and my friend's entrecote were good but not great, the meat a bit tough. We liked the ambiance and the service was good. Importantly, we were seated in the non smoking room; the smoking room by the entrance would have been untenable. Although not expensive in an absolute... More

This was the first place we dined at our weekend in Praha. We enjoyed a tasty and warm lunch with great wine. Nice and helpful staff. Great location near the Old Town.

My wife and I had had a filling, late lunch so we were on the lookout for some lighter fare. We each ordered onion soup, fois gras and shared a side of ratatouille. The staff paced our odd-ball meal perfectly and each plate was delightful. Highly recommended.

We were in Prague for 5 days and visited with local friends. While walking, wandering with them we passed Chez Marcel and they said - "You have to try this restaurant". It is close to the main square, where we were staying, so gave it a shot. Bottom line - it was the best meal we had during our trip... More

we were very tired of Czech and Austrian food, and were disappointed in local Italian restaurants, so we were thrilled to see the good reviews for Chez Marcel in the Jewish Quarter, Old Town, near the IC Hotel. It didn't disappoint. Charming decor, excellent appetizers, good service, and 6 out of 7 entrees were excellent (including the burger and fries)... More

We found this restaurant just down the street from our hotel. We only popped in for a French onion soup, not a full meal. The soup was good, not great. It lacked flavor, but was OK. There are many choices on the menu and I would like to go back, but smoking in the restaurant really put us off. Even... More

Living in Prague for now 3 months, I have to say that this restaurant is one of my favorite! I love going there to go back to my French roots in order to enjoy fine cuisine. The value for money is wonderful so is the service and the food. I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back. Thank... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighborhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
