Great food, but...

The staff was friendly and terrific and the food was delicious. Truly wonderful fish, soup, and sushi. No creative rolls, just simple, high-quality sashimi, nigiri, and basic rolls. The atmosphere is a tad dismal. It's in the basement, no windows, and cigarette smoke. Prices are quite high... read more

I must admit I have tried many Japanese restaurants in Europe and this one I consider to be among the best in the region. I have been coming here for long time and always love to return when I´m in the area. It is to me a 100% Japanese food experience. I have tasted all kinds of meals served here... More

I noticed the menu and realized the chef must be Japanese. I just have the dinner tonight. The food tasted excellent and they are all authentic as compare with foods in Japan where I go (mainly Tokyo) once every three months. It is a must try. The tempura squids are fresh and soft. The sushi are fresh. We I had... More

It's a strange setting, being in the basement of a rather ugly, large hotel. It's a little out of the centre but that is no bad thing as you avoid the tourists and the rip-off places designed to attract them. The food is excellent, with a large menu featuring many dishes you don't find in "ordinary" Japanese restaurants. It's well... More

If you want to go to a Japanese restaurant where 90% of the clientele is Japanese, this is the place for you. It's located in the basement level of the Diplomat Hotel. You can get there by cab or by the metro. If going by the latter, it's just one or two blocks away from the Dejvicka stop on the... More

The atmosphere is really as in restaurant in Japan, even Karaoke machine is there :) During our meal all the staff spoke Japanese, which is helpful. The choice of food is wide, you even find sukiyaki or konomiyaki on the menu. We had a wide choice of meals, from udon through sushi to Japanese curry. All good apart from rice... More

My first experience in a Japanese restaurant, and a good one. The menu is a little confusing if you have never been there before, but luckily one of my friends regularly eats Japanese and was able to help me with it. Nonetheless, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I'm sure they would have explained if I had asked.... More

I are here while staying at the hotel situated above it. The restaurant is in the basement and was quite intimidating at first. The waiting staff were very helpful in helping us choose our meals. I chose a noodle dish which was very fresh and flavoursome. It wasn't something I'd usually choose but glad I did. The beer was reasonably... More

Taste of Japan in Prague ? go to Katsura. I was amazed at the food, variety and taste, excellent service and courtesy. Have been to many Japanese all over Europe, Katsura steals the show. Highly recommendable and would definitely visit on my next trip.
