Really good traditional cuisine in a pub. Friendly service and tasty tar tar stakes. The pig head cheese was so delicious, try it even tough it sounds weird.

Salzmann has a truly long tradition based on quality beer and traditional Czech food. The service is one of the best in the city. Do not make the mistake of trying what you already know and being "safe", try as much as your stomach can handle. Smoking area is to the right, further non-smoking is to the left and rear... More

The food was quite good, liked the beer, but the staff was not so polite. Did not expected that because had some good reviews from friends.

We gave this restaurant a poor rating, not because of the food but because of the service. Maybe we were just unlucky having read some of the other reviews. The food and price was good but the service very unfriendly. We were made to feel very unwelcome. Not sure I would go back there again.

While the beer was good, the food was awful. The goulash soup in a breadbowl consisted of a goulash flavored broth, with no meat or vegetables to be seen. Salad was limp and salty. Service was attentive with decent seating outside. Prices seemed mid-range which is why we decided to eat here but don't waste your money.

Staff was great. Beer was excellent. Food was okay. Soup was average and gulas wasn't that good. But my friend had pork and he loved it. It looked much better.

We took the advice of fellow travelers who said it was worthy and we completely agree. A bustling restaurant with Czech classics served up in a rustic way. Think 'bierstube.' It is award winning and is several hundred years old. Very fairly priced for someone accustomed to paying in Euros. Fresh. Tasty. Good service. Would return anytime in the area... More

Though it's an old pub, the inside was bright, clean, fresh - not like the dirty old Bohemian pubs of the past. We had fried cheese, salmon (both served with the pub's own homemade potato chips/crisps), and garden salad with chicken strips. Delicious, all of it. Fried cheese is standard "vegetarian" pub fare in these parts, a must-try if you're... More

We ordered a Beer of course. The Goulash soup came in a bread bowl complete with lid to keep it hot. It was wonderful.. We had the chicken roast with pomme frites and weiner schnitzel with potato salad. Oh so delicious. Will eat there again if in the city.

Service is not the best, food is so-so= quite OK. Beer is very good. Historically this pub is one of the oldest in Plzen. Question is: Is that enough? I would recommend a different pub: Parkan, Comix, 12°. All three are quite close to this one Cheers!
