Re: traditional Czech food

There seems to be mixed reviews of the food and service. We were given good food and service as well. The food portions were huge and the local beer was good. Definitely it's not fine dining, it has a "feel at home" ambiance. We have tried the place once and definitely if given the chance, we will... read more

Very small place so recommend reservation. Traditional Czech cuisine. Started with potato pancakes which were pretty good. For main dish, ordered the pork goulash which was delicious and included potato dumplings and sauerkraut. Large portion indeed. Very inexpensive with beers around $2 USD and goulash around $5. Highly recommend Eggenberg beer. Simply decorated restaurant with staff that are in a... More

We went on SUNDAY in the night nearby. The only one authentic house which is not shiny but authentic. On sundays the owner and his friend sing traditional song with acordeon. Lovely atmosphere atracting local citizen and turists. We drank only a lemonade and plum brandy. All the drinks are local strictly avoiding global trade marks. like 30 years ago.... More

Another "Must visit place" Even if your just in the mood for a cold beer this is a great place to visit, it will take you back decades, if not a century. The atmosfear at the old wooden tables, the decoration on the wall, the very good food, the friendly waiter it, all ad up to as a great place... More

We loved our meal here, it's not fine dining but it's local, the food was delicious, the beer and plum brandy were very nice too! As mentioned in another review, if it is busy you may need to share a long table but that's a bonus as you might meet some interesting people! We would definitely recommend this restaurant!

We dined here to try Czec food, and enjoyed a very tasty, homelike meal: carp with veggies, and pork, both czec dishes in a very nice local atmosphere. On Sundays there's live music, so if you are in Cesky on a Sunday, this will be a good option.

Got a very delicious steak ( meat comes from a ecofarm near Cesky Krumlov) and my wife ordered a duck. Really good kitchen!!! Because of the size of the restaurant you might have to sit with somebody on one large table. Last time we sit together with a young pair from South Korea and they were on Honeymoon in the... More

The ambience is rustic and casual. I had a spinach soup which was just as hearty as I expected. For main, I had a grilled trout with garlic herb butter which was extremely well made, the flesh was moist and the accompanying potatoes were super tasty. It's a nice surprise as you can't expect fine presentation at a tavern, nor... More

Ok, Cesky Krumlov is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Though the gastro service's are known to be of poor quality there. The last two times I was there with my friends we went to the non smoking pub Na Louži.. The ambience of this one room small pub/restaurant is really nice. Old signs, old piano, old furniture...... It is really interesting to stop in traditional restaurant such as this one. As a local personm working in travel industry for 20 years, I have visit number of untouristic restarants and local pubs. It is nice place to stop and probably stay too. I meet nice group of older musicians inside and one guy was the owner of the... More
