I went with a group of friends and we had the set christmas menu. The landlord couldn't have been more friendly and hospitable. We had a very well cooked chicken thyme and cream dish for our main course. I am a coeliac and the staff were so kind, making sure I had the identical dishes that my friends were eating, but... More

Monday evening meal with friend, hadn't booked. Walk into 'bar area'. Waitress told us we could have " Restaurant" menu or " Bar" menu. If we wanted food from bar menu we couldn't sit in ' Restaurant' area, despite the fact there were only two tables occupied in restaurant. I said I thought this was rather old fashioned, there were... More

We dined here early evening and the menu and food were very good. We both had the vegetarian roast which was delicious. The atmosphere was lovely to start, but when we took our seats in the restaurant, there was a party of very noisy people who showed no consideration for the other diners. They were shouting and making an awful... More

What a warm and friendly atmosphere.. The food we had was excellent, the service -couldn't fault it. I would recommend the Fishcakes, the best I have ever had.

The Talbot is the obvious choice in Belbroughton not because it it fantastic but because the others around are lacking. Various problems arise, no pre drink area suitable, limited menu with uninspiring specials, staff insufficiently trained or knowledgeable who seen unable to clear unwanted items and have to be reminded to bring those that are, very cheap paper napkins more... Many (circa. 14) years ago I recall that The Talbot was a great gastropub pub/restaurant and then a change of direction and a couple of poor experiences (prob 10 yrs or so ago) put me off, I'd heard that the establishment had been turned around and several years later I'm booking a table. The staff present themselves as friendly and... More

Visited the Talbot for a bite to eat last night. I chose the veggie option of mushroom and chestnut casserole (though I'm not vegetarian but fancied a change). Very disappointing. It was very basic consisting of 4 whole mushrooms, 2 slices of onion and 4 tiny chestnuts swamped in a bowl full of gravy....... served with tough almost raw curly... More

Lovely generous portions, always fresh food, crusty sandwiches, they even gave me a piece of porkpie from the ploughmans platter with my sandwich to satisfy my craving. Just lovely! welcoming staff. will be back!
