A somewhat mixed experience

As visitors to the area we were recommended the Talbot by a local, as an alternative if we could not get a table at his first suggestion, which we couldn't. We hadn't eaten at the Talbot for some time but dropped in on Thursday evening and were really impressed. The menu had changed since our last visit and the food was really good. Cod and chorizo croquette was lovely and the duck in cherry was excellent (just more (sweet potato) needed. C had scallops and sea bass with risotto and... More

Revisited the Talbot after a gap of about three months. The Cocker Hoop beer was as well kept as ever. We both had fish. I had a huge portion of big succulent mussels, and the mariniere sauce was the best I've had in a long time. It was still the wrong choice, though: Vivien had sea bass with salmon and... More

Stopped in for a quick bite with a friend as we were recommended this particular pub, we didn't book however this wasn't a problem as it was reasonably quiet. Food was great as was the decor, staff were attentive. Would have been an excellent review however we couldn't help over hear the woman, who I would think is the manager/... More

Visited on a Saturday afternoon with friends and seriously a beautiful meal. The Talbot is a family run establishment that want to make your dining experience a memorable one. They certainly managed to achieve this. You feel welcomed the moment you walk through the front door. I called to make our booking the Wednesday before and had a lovely lady... More

We decided to go out for Sunday Lunch and dropped in at The Talbot, we hadn't booked but they found us a table (although I have to say I think we were lucky and i'd definately book next time). All of the staff from the Owner, to each member of staff that attended us were lovely, friendly and polite but... More

We have just been to The Talbot for Sunday lunch. We were out walking locally in client hills, we sat down and had an excellent meal; only to be approached by the manager. He told us to remove our small water bottles from the table, as they sell water in the pub. We had bought drinks in there and had... More

Have had lovely meals here. Food always excellent, top quality, nice surroundings, attentive service. Sensible portions too, enough without being silly like some, allowing you to have three courses without being stuffed. Higher end price-wise without being too much, but you do get the quality that you pay for.

Went to Talbot for drinks and food and the service, staff and food were amazing! Tom made the evening most memorable and I will definitely be recommending this place and returning again soon. Food was out of the world especially the fennel and orange salad!
