Food fantastic service lacking

The food here is great the Sunday roasts were fantastic and a real surprise as I hadn't been here for a number of years but they've really uped their game with the food. The only thing I will say is make sure you book in advance. Although the staff were accommodating they appeared to be a little... read more

we tried this restaurant with a friend, my first problem was a dirty knife, I asked for it to be changed which they did. the replacement was not clean either!, I cleaned this one myself. The food was in my estimation a little below par and so was the service, unsurprisingly the restaurant was pretty quiet, but they still cocked... More

We visited last weekend for a lunch which we'd booked. We arrived and were warmly greeted by friendly staff. We sat down at our table and noted a very nice atmosphere to the place. No sooner did we sit down, did the pub seem to fill with people for Sunday dinners. Even with a full pub, our food came out... More

We arrived for lunch at 12.15. Although the place was practically empty and a couple of members of staff were in evidence, nobody greeted us. We asked at the bar if we should order the food at the bar or at the table. We were advised to order at the bar. No menus were offered, so we found one at... More

We were seated quickly at a cosy table and were offered drinks straight away, we were then served complimentary crisps which we thought was a nice touch. My partner had the rib-eye steak which he thought was excellently cooked and I had the pie which was delicious, we both then finished off with a coffee and a small desert which... More

Me and my partner recently revisited after a bad experience we had over a year ago and I have to say I'm glad we did. Great cuisine with a new exciting menu, great atmosphere and helpful and happy staff who take the time to create conversation rather then just 'serve' which is hard to come by in most established restaurant's.... My wife and I first came to the bell approximately 3 years ago and we have eaten here on multiple occasions and never been disappointed. So yesterday was our 1st wedding anniversary and we wanted to eat somewhere calm with plenty of character and a good menu. The choice was quickly made to go to the bell. We had a... More

We had not been here for a while but remembered it to be worth a revisit. How things change. We arrived and were shown to a table...good so far...We ordered a couple of drinks and 5 minutes later our food. After waiting 15 minutes our drinks had not arrived. I approached the bar as i had watched numerous people walk... More
