Nice bodega on the way out of town

Typical bodega on the way out of Ronda, ie not in old town centre. Good tapas served in a nonchalant Southern way. Filled with locals, it has a nice authentic feel about it.

after a 14 km walk, we passed Casa Mateos, the barrels outside called us in. The barman was wonderful with excellent friendly fast service and the food came out so quickly too.. We were very impressed. What started as a one drink stop ended up 3 wines later (fantastic vino balance, chosen by the barman) and numerous tapas, the tastiest... More

We were staying in a B&B on the same road, and found Casa Mateos by chance. The food is well-priced and delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and very efficient (which is an exception in Spain). The restaurant seems very popular and it got very busy for the later side of lunch time. We even returned the second... More

Note that the position on the map is incorrect So many places are empty and lack any atmosphere not here, we arrived just before 9 and were on of only a few there, by 10.30 it was packed and really humming. Wine good tapas fantastic no need to go to any other tapas bar

This is some of the best tapas we have tried through our many years of travelling in the south of Spain. Deliciously served, and combined in a way you seldom see. The place is packed with local folks, so there may be some waiting time, however it is all wotrh waiting for!

Visited on a Tuesday evening with my wife at 8.30pm and it looked like they had just opened. Service was great throughout the evening, even as more diners arrived. We had salmon, pork skewer, bull burger chips, ham eggs and truffles, goats cheese salad, cod fritters and for dessert cheese cake (more of a cheese yoghurt) and chocolate cake (fondant).... More

We loved the whole vibe of this tapas bar. Charming, simple and authentic. The food was super. Three of us shared Bull mini burgers, spinach salad with warm goat cheese (fantastic!), cod fritters, chicken skewers with curry sauce, sardines and grilled asparagus. All of it was great! The staff was very gracious and friendly as well.

We liked Casa Mateos - its away from the main tourist drag and has the traditional barrels and high stools for seating. You will find it if you walk past Alameda Del Tajo park and continue up the hill for a few minutes. Service was nice and friendly, food was good - we had cod fritters which were delicious and...
