This is a very nice place to relax and watch the views. However, be warned that the price is on the higher side. The staff are cordial and service swift. I have been here before and would go there again despite the high price.

Tripadvisor reviews led me to this place, tucked in between the backwaters and beach of Cherai. On hindsight, most of the "superb " reviews seem to be written by Non Indians. This is a place that would attract that kind of crowd. Any proper desi would balk at the thought of spending Rs 200/- for 8 pieces of skinny pakodas... More

When we visited Cherai we decided to have dinner from Chillout Café since we have heard a lot about this beach shack. It is a bamboo restaurant and they provide bean bags in the sand, we can order the food and just wait. The menu has pizzas, barbecues, burgers, breads, seafood, chicken, few continental items etc. The restaurant is managed... More

Great for when you need some western repose! Much more expensive than the local Indian options (300 rs for a burger, 400 for a steak, 100 for a coffee) but well well worth it. Its off peak season now so the western food is served mainly at lunch time, with just a few options like chicken burger and ravioli for... More

I have visit this place quite often and love coming here with my gang. Setup is cool with music that is pleasing to your ears. And they play on request. Watching the sun set into the sea with a cup of tea in my hand is how I remember this place. This is a view worth an evening. The staff... More

A popular place in the area owned by a Frenchman. The setting can't be beat. The food was good and loved that he took our plate that was finished and gave it to his dog:-) This is the kind of place that will be packed (along with Les 3 Elephants) in a few years when people discover this area

If you have totally had enough of eating Veg Thali with your fingers in India, this place will sort you out. Its CLEAN for a start and you know the kitchen is hygienic. Good food (pricey by Indian standards though) and coffee. Closed Wednsedays as we discovered after walking all the way there having had lush food there the day... More

The location right on the beach was lovely and the food was really well cooked, the choice was a bit limited but the French owner was really attentive and helpful. Shame they do not have an alcohol licence.

We ate here 2 nights of our stay in Cherai Beach. We had an afternoon walk on the beach, and stopped in for a cool drink to this funky beach-front cafe. We had a virgin mojito and a cafe frappe - both delicious, and decided to come back for dinner. We had steaks (well done) with french fries, mushroom and... More
