Located in this building S. XVII, in our restaurant we offer big a variety of dishes with one of the most iconic views of the Hoz del Huecar. Among them we can find are a variety of home-made tapas and rations (Croquettes, Mushrooms "Spring Rolls",...) For visitors and locals can taste the typical dishes of the region (Morteruelo, Pisto, Gazpacho Pastor, Ajo Arriero, Manchego Cheese, Lamb, Cod, ...) and others of different influences and with new elaborations (Rabbit confit, Iberian Pig Meat, Red Tuna, ...) All with excellent wines and finish with our homemade desserts (Tiramisu, Rice & Coconut Puding, Lemon or Chocolate Mousse, Brownie, ...). We regularly offer "off the menu" suggestions to tempt the most demanding palates. Our employees have been informed of food allergies and intolerances related to our menu, which is kept up to date so that clients have all the necessary information on hand, even in the menu.

A La Mancha food treat

Dinner doesn't start until 9pm but we were graciously received early for a light dinner. The Posada San Jose overlooks the valley opposite the Parador, try to book an outside table. No on site parking but easily reached (upwards) on foot. Great La Mancha wine and local specialities to try. Menu in... read more

We walked in without a reservation on a hot Wednesday night at 10pm, no surprise that the small (5 table) terrace was full and that there was a couple already queuing. Official closing is 10:30pm but we asked if we could get a terrace table if we waited. The waiter said sure, come back in half an hour. So we... More

There are no vegetarian restaurants in Cuenca but the Posada de San josé menu included a number of suitable dishes and the staff were very willing to accommodate as much as possible. Added to this a charming location, 2 minutes from the plaza Mayor, and amazing views and the result was a superb evening, about 30 seconds walk from our... More

Must first mention the view from the restaurant which, if you are a couple (couples only 3 tables) have a fantastic view over the gorge. Unfortunately we had not booked and were 4 in number so had a table a bit back from the window. The chairs are not comfortable in fact they reminded me of school chairs and was... More

The view is lovely, the food is good. The portions not large. The service however is not particularly friendly, in fact Basil Fawlty would fit in well. Delivery of the food is inconsistant as our entrees arrived at different times plus I had to remind them that I had ordered a bottle of wine ( which was very nice). If... More

I don't know how much English is spoken here. But try to request a table by the window, as the restaurant overlooks the gorge. The food was good, but was overshadowed by the beauty of the view.

The team at the Posada are all friendly and helpful. We booked a great room with a balcony overlooking the gorge and the Parador. Quite amazing. Nothing frilly but quite individual and all that we needed and more. We dined in the restaurant and had good local food, well cooked flavoured and presented. It is one of the few places... More

We has lunch at the Posada de San José, enjoyed the amazing views and specialty appetizers. Choose the degustación of Cuenca specialties, delicious pimientos and pisto, good ajo arriero and morteruelo. We chose the duck, not impressive. The lamb seems the specialty.

We stayed here at the hotel for two nights and on the first night (Tuesday) we ate elsewhere as this restaurant was closed. After an extremely disappointing alternative gamble (Los Arcos) on Tuesday, we decided to do a bit more research to avoid repeating the scenario and liked the reviews for this restaurant. Cuenca seemed very much out of season... More

Cuenca's old center is considered to be World Heritage by UNESCO. On the very top of the area is Posada de San José and its restaurant. Besides the gorgeous view and the great sensation of being in a many centuries old building, one still can eat very tasty Castilla home made food. I had a warm and soothing pumpkin soup,... More
