Historical building and tasty food

Cuenca's old center is considered to be World Heritage by UNESCO. On the very top of the area is Posada de San José and its restaurant. Besides the gorgeous view and the great sensation of being in a many centuries old building, one still can eat very tasty Castilla home made food. I had a warm... read more

Went here for dinner. The ambiance was great; it's situated inside an old building in Cuenca that overlooks the gorge (steps from the Cathedral). The staff did not speak a lot of English but were very helpful and provided us with English menus. I highly recommend the pork in apple sauce!

This is a hostal but you can eat in their diningroom. The restaurant was full on our visit but the owner said we could have a table in another adjoining room, we had a lovely meal here at a reasonable cost. The word 'hostal' does not fit this lovely old fashioned hotel which was a lovely surprise when we entered.

The interior is rustic but don't let that put you off because the food is the thing you are here for. There is plenty of choice with some regional specialities to choose from. All of the dishes we chose were both tasty and generous in size at very good prices. Each night, there are special dishes prepared which are well... More

We stopped at this place just based on its menu posted on the street. We were a little worried at first as we had to make our way down through the Hotel lobby to a lower level to get to the restaurant and we were starting to get that "well we can't turn back now" vibe when we finally made... More

This is a shame to give this place a "3" scoring as the food was really tasty and excellent quality. My quandary was more with the very "average" service, apart from the young girl there how radiated a warm smile and happy attitude, the other staff members seemed a little despondent and lacking enthusiasm. On arrival we kind of wandered... More

I wasnt quite sure about this restaurant which is located within a hostel style hotel in Cuenca when I first saw it. But what a treat. The view was spectacular over the gorge and the food was excellent. I would recommend the Avocado and Prawn salad with the most delicious dressing. We had the duck which was fantastic and comes... Not only was this our favourite place to eat in Cuenca, it's one of the tastiest meals we've had during our 9 day trip in Spain. Given the reviews on Trip Advisor and the advice from the person running our accommodation we initially headed to El Secreto only to discover it is closed for dinner on Tuesdays and all day... More
