Good food and such a great deal!

We stopped here for lunch on a cold drizzly day. The restaurant was warm, inviting and pretty full. We got the menu del dia, and I started with hot chicken noodle soup, my husband got judias estofado (bean and sausage stew) which had a rich flavor and then we were brought mixed green salad and... read more

...or even in the old city. We hadn't intended to eat here but stopped by to have a drink before going somewhere else. Looking into the restaurant from the bar it all looked nice and there were several table full. We decided to try it.... My partner is vegetarian which can often limit what she eats in Spanish restaurants, but... More

We ordered the tasting menu even though we didn't recognise anything on there and I must say it was quite an adventure. Plate after plate of new experiences was brought before us. First there was a lovely smoked salmon salad, then something that tasted to me like the filling of canneloni. Next up was something a bit like cod and... More

Food was cold and tasteless. Very rude staff - treated us like serving us was an inconvenience. They advertised attractively prices menus out the front during the evening then when you sit down they tell you that was only for lunch and THIS is the dinner menu. Overall very poor. Eat elsewhere in Cuenca.

Ideally situated in the Cuenca’s old square between the Town Hall and the Cathedral with outside seating and indoor dining. We ordered one of the set menus that offered a typical taste of Cuenca at 20 euros. The food was excellent and plentiful and included the bread, water wine and coffee. They brought a lovely Salad San Pablo which included... More

We were attending a Wedding in Cuenca so we were obliged to eat here as it was centrally located and considered a good meeting point. However I can't say that I enjoyed the experience very much. In fairness, it was a Fiesta and everywhere was a bit frenetic but nonetheless, the service was charmless, bordering on arrogant. The food when... More

How do you even cook calamares a la romana badly? No texture, no taste. We asked for extra lemon to try and save them for which we were charged extra. The rest of the food was ok. Great atmosphere on the plaza mayor. Come here for a drink, but go elsewhere for lunch or dinner.

We live in Madrid and spent the day in Cuenca to explore this beautiful city. And we are so happy that we followed the recommendations to eat in this delightful Spanish restaurant. In my opinion, it is the best choice for all the right reasons. First, the location right in the Plaza Mayor and near the Cathedral is very inviting.... More

If you’re looking for the local café experience, this is a great spot to soak it in. Restaurante San Juan Plaza Mayor is situated in the very pleasant central square in the old town. Although the café was bustling with customers, but what made the experience so pleasurable was that the streets were relatively quiet such that a conversation over... More

The Restaurante is located in the middle of the main square in the old city of Cuena. The old city of Cuenca is just incredibly beautiful and fascinating to walk around. Centuries of old houses, stores, churches, all packed together on top of a little mountain. It’s truly a beautiful and interesting place to explore. The Restaurant is located just... More
