We have been coming to this area of Portugal for over 20 years, but never visited this restaurant. It was recommended to us before, but because of the exterior, we always passed it by. I am so sorry we missed out on this restaurant for such a long time! The courtyard is lovely, great atmosphere, great attentive service. Nuno, the... More

Definitely one of the better restaurants my family and I visited during our second stay in the Algarve! The restaurant, as mentioned in other reviews, seems a bit lost in time and doesn't know whether it wants to be fine dining or slightly more casual. The background music is typically hits from the 70s till the 90s and doesn't, at... More

This restaurant is likely to please some and not others, you either really like this type of place or you do not. I can imagine a serious foodie being pretty irritated with a menu that looks as if it was conceived in the early eighties and has remained unaltered ever since. The best dish we had was the clams, which... More

Looks can be deceiving. Mr Freddie's doesn't look much from the outside but as soon as you walk into the courtyard where visitors dine there is a nice atmosphere with attentive waiters. The food was one of the best meals we have had during our stay in Portugal. There are some nice touches during before/after the meal. I would recommend... More

We are big fans of Casa de Quinta (see review) but thought we'd give Mr Freddie's a try. We were not disappointed! Peaceful terrace where we were looked after by very pleasant but unobtrusive staff serving really excellent food in superb surroundings. The extras before and after the meal are unusually generous, as was the bottle of port left on... More

From the outside this is a very un-prepossessing restaurant. You could easily pass it by. That would be a mistake. Once inside, or in the summer in the lovely ivy clad garden you are in for a treat. The cover is very filling and we could not manage a starter as well, which is a shame because the ones coming... More

We were a big party and had just the most excellent time. We were surprised to find the "cover" included a huge array of nibbles including little biscuits, several cheeses, sardine fritters, garlic bread and several other goodies. The starters were all great and my avocado and prawns was big enough to have been a main course dish. The service... More

Went here with a group of friends and was very impressed with the efficiency and attention paid to us. My starter of scallops and prawns in a broth was not to my liking — the heat of the plate and broth was too much, almost as if the dish had been microwaved. And the scallops had begun to break up....
