Very easy to miss the restaurant, but look out for a blue cow. Set slightly off the road and sits next to another restaurant 'Thai Garden. Everything about the restaurant represents high quality. Staff, environment, food and wine all of equally high standard. The wine waiter was really helpful and do try the Portuguese wines including the sparkling wines, they... More

There is a lot one can say about this restaurant. It lost its Michelin star last year. The quality of the food, the wine list and the service cannot be the reason. It is all outstanding!! The only criticism we had is the interior and the decoration. It is totally outdated. Even the music is outdated. Truly a pity because... More

With a seemingly good reputation we pursued an evening meal here mid May - beautiful setting but very quiet with more staff than guests. Food was well balanced with good flavour but far from spectacular and justifies the loss of their michelin star. Service was overbearing - whilst their objective was to attend to our every need we were interrupted... More

As with most places in the area this is a pleasant experience. I liked the people, the service, the food, the wine but it is not Michelin star. I'd go back any time and most likely will when in the area. If you do not go with Michelin star expectations you should have a good time.

Visited Sao Gabriel for their set Sunday lunch with family. Found the food of high quality and well presented but lacked the flair I would expect of a Michelin starred restaurant. The service was excellent and overall we thought the lunch was good value for money. Well worth a visit but the setting is not as enjoyable as other restaurants... More

The service, the food, the aperitifs, the attention to every little detail was superb. The food was delicious, pan fried fois gras ,loin of venison, the pudding divine. Very professional at their service. I visited at least 8 different restaurants while on holiday in Portugal, for me this was the best!!!

On arrival we were a little disappointed in the setting of this restaurant. It is literally across a garden path from the Thai restaurant, except Sao Gabriel is behind a hedge. Basically it looks tired and old fashioned. The food was OK but not anything exceptional and certainly not worth 200 euros. For a Michelin star restaurant I expected a... More

Two of us went for lunch yesterday(Sunday) at 29€ it was a bargain. Not huge choice but interesting, staff very efficient and friendly.Menu changes every week so looking forward to next Sunday. The presentation and taste of the meal was excellent and as I said great value for €29.

We visited São Gabriel for the Sunday lunch. This is a three course menu at 29 euros, which is an exceptional deal for a restaurant with a Michelin star. One can choose from two starters, three mains and two desserts. The quality of the food was excellent, so was the service. Their wine list is huge and wines are pretty... More
