Description: A series of extraordinary vaulted ceilings draw the eyes upwards the instant you step over Vaults hearth. This ancient former coaching house on the main street of Almancil is something of an architectural masterpiece, and considered by locals as much tourists as a special occasion restaurant. Hosts Richard and Lil make everyone feel at home, while head chef Sean oversees largely European and good value set and a la carte menus alongside daily specials. Favourites include prawn piri piri; warm goats cheese with honey salad, and fillet of sea bass baked with a chive and parsley olive oil. The curries are good, too. The atmosphere is at its most vibrant on Sunday when Vaults puts on the only traditional carvery (with all the trimmings) in the Golden Triangle served for both lunch and dinner.

In the middle of Almancil, easy to miss. Parking on the main road only. A mixture of Portuguese & English dishes. Try Sunday lunch! Very friendly English run restaurant

A nice surprise in the Algarve, great food, home made style, very friendly atmosphere and fantastic music from the 50's and 60's. The pumpkin soup was delicious and the beef curry very tasty. Very reasonable price, and a lovely atmosphere.

We have been visiting the Vaults since it first opened in 2005 and last Wednesday we sampled their curry evening. The Vaults uses a simple but effective concept which is to appeal to the thousands of British people who either live in or visit the Algarve each year. The food is not pretentious but simple, tasty and wholesome ... The... More

We had a lovely lunch on Christmas Day. The service was very good and the food excellent. This is a very British establishment, the Sunday carvery is very popular as is their midweek curry night. Very good value for money, give Vaults a whirl, I think you will have a great time.

When we arrived, the power had gone out due to the flash rain. Seeing as we'd driven out we decided to have a drink & see if the electricity came back on. 20 minutes later the electricity came in & we enjoyed a delicious meal. It was a great evening & a perfect end to our short break.

I went to this restaurant in September after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. Very disappointing. The prawns I had for my starter hadn't been de-veined so I spent the time trying to clean them before eating. Needless to say I didn't finish them. The sea bass I had was fine, the vegetables were awful, overcooked and inedible. My friend... More

The restaurant was empty but it was late October. We ordered starters, main course and one dessert which were all very well cooked and presented. I particularly liked the inside of the restaurant as it was very unusual with brick arches and I am sure that when there are a lot of people in there the atmosphere would be extremely good.... More

Vaults is a lovely restaurant serving british favourites in a friendly cosy atmosphere. They have a Sunday Carvery, and Curry night to add variety to their already mouthwatering menu. The hosts are very friendly and are there for your every need with expert advise on all dishes and wines. We went with 2 other couples and our son aged 14... More
