Breakfast of Truffle treats

We were on a wine tour that included a breakfast stop for truffle tasting here. The town and the osteria are very attractive in this beautiful tuscan setting. The white truffles were in season and I did enjoy them at a number for meals that week. The quantity of truffles we were served here... read more

We were on a wine tour that included a breakfast stop for truffle tasting here. The town and the osteria are very attractive in this beautiful tuscan setting. We recently stayed in the small town of San Giovanni D’ Asso, and ate here based on the great reviews we read. The menu looked good, and since the fresh white truffle we bought a day before was fresh and delicious, we had high expectations of Donatella and her team. Sadly, we were disappointed. The antipasti were humdrum in their... More

We stumbled across this restaurant at lunchtime by chance on one of our day trips from Montalcino, after visiting the Abbey of Monte Oliveto. We'd eaten a lot of good Tuscan food during the previous 10 days, but this was definitely the best, and so we made two evening trips here from Montalcino, including for our last meal. There is... So far we've been here twice in 3 days and we're going back again tomorrow night for my birthday dinner. Tartufo desgustazione appetizer is superb, fresh pappardelle with wild boar ragu fantastic, fresh pici with tomato and garlic full of flavor, sliced pork with balsamic and crushed pistachio moist and perfect, peach cake, biscotti and vin santo...all excellent down to... We almost didn't go in because of the exterior but were very glad we did. Lovely restaurant, good service and delicious food - interesting starter of crepe, green beans, goats cheese mousse and soft boiled quails eggs, followed by excellent fillet of beef with roast potatoes and then light and tasty iced chocolate mousse. The little appetiser of caponata was... More

Sweet spot in a hidden corner of Tuscany. Great meal, imaginative menu in a tiny city that is the truffle capital of Tuscany. We passed on the truffles and didn't miss them at all

This place should not be missed if you are anywhere in the area. As others have said-don't make the mistake of not going in because of the exterior which we almost did. The inside is charming and the food is exceptional. Have the wild boar crostini which is the world's best sloppy joe! The Pici is wonderful no matter how... More

From the outside this restaurant looks like a local and not very impressive Bar, but, once inside it's a whole different story. 3 very attractive rooms decorated in a light country style and a warm welcome await. Real Tuscan cooking, professional, friendly service and very reasonable prices. Really creative cooking using only what is fresh at the moment. In truffle... More

Excellent Tuscan food with meats provided by the butcher next door, and vegetables by local farms. An excellent place to sample the truffles that have made this area famous. Like all restaurants in Tuscany, outstanding wines.

There are many good restaurants in the area, and one of our go-to places was shut when we dropped by for lunch. That's how we discovered this little jewelI. The exterior is very unremarkable and we would have driven by, had the three small outside tables not been set for lunch with colourful plates and blankets. So we stopped and... More
