Olde Worlde Setting

Lovely setting. Must be a real treat for someone arriving off the plane at Shannon from Boston or New York. We visited to cure a craving for oysters. They were delicious, as expected-as if they had just been picked-fresh and salty and tangy. The crab claws were a tad disappointing. Not the claws... read more

Our friends suggested this restaurant and we're glad they did. The seafood was fresh and expertly prepared, the service courteous, and the atmosphere warm. The seafood special had loads of fresh crabmeat, tender and delicious smoked salmon, and the freshest tasting prawns I've ever had. This was all served with a unique brown bread and salad. We will return.

Went here this evening with my family (including 2 teenage children) and we all loved it. Not often I see turbot on a menu and it was beautifully cooked, oysters were amazing and the service was excellent. Yes a bit expensive (but coming from south east England seemed unfortunately normal) but worth it for the food and the atmosphere.

Have been a regular visitor over the years and love the location. But our visit today made me realise that the food is so over priced and really just average pub grub. 4 of us dropped by and had a mix of starters and main courses (and a couple of pints). No one was raving about the food and the... More

The garlic mussels were done in the oven and were a bit dry, but otherwise everything was superb!!!!

Had dined in Morans during the height of the Celtic Tiger and had attributed their high prices with the largesse that was typical everywhere. I decided to revisit in the hope that the global recession had brough some common sense to their menu. Unfortunately €20 plus for a hand full of scampi and a few chips is all too reminiscent... We knew this place was good from the reviews we had read. I can only say it was fabulous, great service, fantastic food and wonderful ambience. Even got to say thankyou to the owner.

If you're using the rental car GPS, it can be a little challenging to locate, as our beech in a box kept telling us to stop midway down the road at a residential house. I'm here to tell you, just keep going until that little road dead ends and you see the white thatched cottage on the right. Be extra... More

Of course I went there for the oysters and they were wonderful but I have to say that the garlic crab claws were even better!! The most amazing crab claws that I have ever had. Pair that with a nice pint of Guinness and what more could you ask for. Great, friendly staff as well.
