Wasabi restaurant & bar, overhanging the scenic Noosa River, opposite the Noosa Recreation Reserve, is the brainchild of owner and Young Restaurateur of the Year Award recipient Danielle Gjestland. The entirely waterfront dining space has spectacular river views with amazing sunset vistas by day and a warm, contemporary, intimate dining space by night. Voted Queensland's #1 regional restaurant for the 2015 Good Food Guide, awarded two chefs hats, listed in Gourmet Travellers top 100 restaurants, and voted Queensland's Hottest Restaurant in the Australians Hot 50 List, Wasabi's food has a contemporary sensibility that is still deep rooted in Japanese purity.

Fantastic Japanese fusion

The lamb was the stand out dish. A great sake list and wonderful fresh filling food. Would go back in a heart beat, with the view over the river a great way to spend an evening with friends.

We had an amazing table right on the water. Our waitress was particularly attentive friendly and knowledgable. The food was outstanding and the beautiful wine complimented our lunch nicely. Overall a fantastic dining experience and a great way to celebrate a special occasion for us.

Some friends and I went to Wasabi for dinner while visiting Noosa after having it recommended by several people. The food was sadly disappointing and lacking in flavour. I've been to many Japanese restaurants in London and Australia (including traditional establishments where the emphasis is on less spice), and none of them had bland food. Service was also lacking which... More

We started the evening with a Kinkan cocktail, a kind of cumquat margherita, which turned out to be the highlight of the evening. We chose the Omakase menu, which was unsophisticated, with too many distractions, that is, too many overpowering sauces. A major improvement would be to serve the sauces on the side. Best things on the menu included the... More

After a fantastic week in Noosa we finished with Wasabi. The food was amazing and what you would expect, however the customer service was terrible from the moment we walked through the doors. We had specifically called the restaurant to ensure they were ok with the 5 children, but from the moment we walked in it was as if some... More

Excellent food and service. When we arrived one adult and two children we were greeted warmly. Seated by the window over looking the Noosa River, however you must request well in advance to confirm riverside seating. The children were welcomed and offered a children's menu upfront. Adult menu offered either degustation 3 courses for $80 per adult. Highly recommended would... More

Although very expensive, this is truly a fine dining experience. The ambiance was great, the staff were thoughtful and the food was a delight. Lived up to our expectations.

Why change a good thing? Wasabi used to be one of our two favourite places to eat in Noosa, but they have completely changed their menu and it was terrible! And it cost a fortune! Over $600 for two of us!! We had their 9 course meal option plus a specially ordered entree and the only thing that was nice... More

I am very sorry you didn't enjoy your meal and wish you had asked to speak to me on the night, so I could directly address your concerns. We have not completely changed the menu, as you say, as many of the long time favourites (sashimi/nigiri moriawase, gyoza, tempura, Shiromi ponzu, Yukke...etc) have been on the menu for over 10... We went there for my wife's birthday, had the degustation and were very well pleased. Staff attentive but not threatening; the sequence of food was superb. Would we go again? You betcha . Can I afford to? Let me check. But for we mere mortals, a wonderful and full value experience.

My husband and I dined here on Sunday 13th December. Thank you for a divine meal! The presentation was amazing and the food was delicious. We sat in the Tatami room and were the only people up there. We enjoyed something different and more like traditional Japanese dining. It was interesting to read about the onsite charcoal based water filtration... More
