Fantastic Hospitality

Great traditional meal, I had a porterhouse and my wife had the lamb rack, both were excellent. Value of the local wines really stood out, a lesson for our restaurants in NZ. An excellent bottle of Pinot Noir came in at $30.

Hospitality wonderful by the hosts Louise Barling and Garry Broderick, as usual. Good selection of sandwiches, hot finger good, wine and juice and of course the coffee was its usual great standard. The 45 bird and wildlife paintings of Paul Margocsy are a must see, truly not to be missed by both bird lover and art collector alike. This exhibition... More

This is the place to eat when staying in Seymour. The patron was welcoming and friendly without being pushy. The establishment is also an art gallery so there is always good art to inspect and if desired purchase while waiting for your meals.the menu is very good and the food was excellent.they have a good wine list to go with... This restaurant/art gallery is located on the main road that takes you from and back to the highway so easy to find. Arrived for late lunch and found the space to be rustic but full of various artworks which really added to the ambience. Garlic bread and pea and ham soup were given a big tick. Servings not huge but... More

You gave us an average score saying ‘servings not huge’, ‘price very reasonable’ ‘too much to eat’ and ‘both too full for dessert’. You gave a big tick to 12oz house made $8 soup and baguette garlic bread, then said 250gm eye fillet with pepper sauce ‘was cooked as requested’ and the entrée seafood salad was surprisingly tasty with yummy... C1872 building has Heritage cover so can't be modernised. Sorry for the slower than normal service, as advised, staff rang in 'sick' at last minute thus too late to call in another. More

I met family members here for a Sunday lunch. There are some beautiful pieces in the art gallery and the meal was very tasty and reasonably priced. The owners were friendly and ready for a chat while we ordered. They also kept the open fire stoked on a cold day to ensure we were comfortable. Very enjoyable.

Put Victoria on your Table and on your Walls! Great presentation of art by noted Victorian artists, amazingly displayed, hung to perfection by Louise and Garry. June sees the fire blazing, roasts on the table and wine in the glass. Great ambience in this beautiful historic building. Who can go past a rack of lamb and very tempting apple crumble!

The staff were only too willing to accomodate us for our association meeting where we incorporated a visit to the walk. Fresh scones and cheese cake went over as a treat.. This our 3rd visit here an will keep coming back for more of their fine fare.
