For those who have reviewed this venue online and dated it after dec 2013 you are incorrect as to the venue. Jacques reymond changed hands and name before the end of January 2014.

I hadn't had a worse meal in Melbourne! The only thing was the presentation was excellent but the substance of the food was bland and overcooked.I would have though forgiven some of the issues if I suffered them alone, but others in our party where unimpressed. I was very disappointed that the wait staff did not ask why we were... More

Since Jacques Reymond left in December 2013 the restaurant has re opened very recently as "Woodland House", now under the ownership of his former chefs, Thomas Woods and Hayden McFarland. We hadn't been here before, being Sydney based, but chose it on reputation for a special "birthday boy" visit. We were not disappointed and it was truly one of our... More

Sad to hear this place is closing. We had the best every meal at JR - we really pushed the boat out by starting with Vintage Dom Perignon but the quality of food and the service made it worthwhile. the staff made us feel like we were the best customers in the place, and the food was divine. Still rave... More

It's not every week we spend close to $300 per person excluding drinks on a meal. Luckily my generous parents were paying. We all tried the degustation menu which included a variety of meats and unique flavours. Of course you would expect the service to be excellent and it didn't fall short of our expectations. If you are after a... More

The food was not entirely what I expected, but enjoyed most of them. The wine selection was unique and probably one of the best in town!

Refined food and service. Lots of asian influences throughout the menu. Unfortunately of the dishes was left unsauced but corrected quickly by the wait staff with a new plate! Good if you like classic and refined. If you are looking for more avant-garde, look else where. Visit while JR is still working.

We were really looking forward to dining here I in particular was excited about another degustation experience having eaten at Attica a few times I was eager to compare both establishments. We arrived on time and were ushered to our seat in one of the rooms, the restaurant is beautiful from the outside but I found it a tad tired... More

We all know that JR is closing at the end of the year, and there’s been a flurry of bookings for the last chance for what has been Melbourne’s finest restaurant for the last 25 years. I first dined at the original Lennox Street, Richmond premises in 1988 which must have been just after it opened. I was so impressed... More

My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We knew from a previous visit that this was a beautiful venue, and very romantic. The food is consistently excellent, and the staff very attentive. This time we chose a lighter meal of four courses rather than the degustation menu of eight. We also got to choose which... More
