In a rushed visit after a movie and before an afternoon appointment, my partner and I enjoyed thoroughly our dumplings and tea. We explained our position to the friendly staff and all just flowed so smoothly. Dumplings steaming hot (great) and so tasty. Tea cups were continually being topped up and we certainly received service with a smile. We ate... More

a good variety including some signature dishes. Price is reasonable, service is impeccable & fast. Early seating if you've somewhere to be, late seating if you want to malinger over several plates. If you haven't got a booking turn up when they open to get a seat.

This is one of the best places in Melbourne for well made and interesting dumplings. Although other dishes are available the dumplings are what makes this fine restaurant well worth a visit. Prices are not cheap but reasonable and there is an extensive wine and beer list from which to choose. The atmosphere is smart casual.

Everything about this place oozed yummy. All food choices were presented nicely and divine in taste. Certainly lived up to the good hype. Will definitely dine there again when in Melbourne.

I visited with a group of colleagues staying next door at the Cullen. We had booked a table and were showed to a tiny table (big enough for 2) but set for 4 people. We asked to be moved and were told all tables were booked , despite there being a larger 4 person table opposite us which was empty.... More

I've been to Hu Tong in the CBD many times (and always loved it) but had not yet visited the Prahran restaurant. Now that I have, it's as good as it's sister restaurant. Dining with a non-red meat eater, we had the prawn dumplings, vegetable dumplings, salt and pepper squid and vegetarian fried rice. All of it was fresh and... More

The best thing about this place was the decor. Otherwise it is way overpriced for what you get. Although the shao-long bao was pretty good, the other dishes we ordered were very average (wantons in chilli sauce, duck lettuce wraps). The best was the Chinese broccoli for $18 which was just boiled with some oyster sauce. We got this because... More

A great night at Hu Tong. Food was fabulous and the Peking duck pancakes delicious as were the dumplings. The service was great and they were very helpful with our selections.
