Fresh from the ocean!

A non greasy freshly cooked generous serving of fresh fish and chips.Enjoy them on the banks of the Myall river, watch out for the birds , they know how yummy they are.

The local visitor centre told us that Hook and Cook had the best fish & chips as the owner had a boat and all the fish was freshly caught. I had also read the reviews and we were really looking forward to our dinner of fresh fish & chips with a glass of wine. We ordered the snapper & chips... More

We have eaten here several times and haven't had any complaints. Even though the shop gets busy, orders are cooked quickly. Staff are efficient. Nothing beats sitting outside on the bench taking in the views whilst waiting for your food anyway. The only thing that could improve the experience would be if the staff were a bit friendlier and maybe... More

We ferried from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens. A local had advised that the Hook & Cook was the best Fish & Chips in Port Stephens. It was a small cafe with a great view. The staff were VERY friendly and happy. I ordered Flathead and chips and my friends had Barramundi and chips. It came out hot and fresh... More

We haven't had fish and chips as good as this in ages! The Whiting was so fresh and batter lovely and light. Highly recommend the food, shame the lady behind the counter was a bit sullen.

We liked the friendly service, the generous portion of both fish and chips. No haute cuisine but it filled a rumbling tummy just fine and was reasonably priced. Definitely recommend if you fancy that fish and chip moment!!

This small eat-in or take-away fish and chip shop, sells top quality fish of various types with well cooked chips, served without the grease and oil change often associated with this type of meal. As a local the only downside is that word is travelling fast and there is sometimes quite a wait for meals despite the efficient service. Take... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed at tea gardens for one night we decided to get fish and chips for dinner and sit on the lake. It was the best fish and chips we have had for a long time so fresh and good value for money. We have been home a week now and still talk about it wishing it... More

Caught the ferry across from Nelson Bay to meet up with friends for lunch in Tea Gardens. All 8 of us were impressed with the good feed. Each pack had more than we ordered - my snapper was delicious. Shop was clean and comfortable for us all to sit and eat. Staff very friendly. Would visit again/recommend.
