I went to this restaurant with my partner on a Saturday night at 8pm in winter. The menu had a choice of 5 entrees, 5 main and 5 desserts. We ordered about 8.20pm, got our entree at 8.55pm and didn't receive our mains till 9.45pm! It was so disappointing as the food was delicious but when you start to bond... More

Had a cozy Saturday evening at Solitary. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and provided us with an special Corn soup appetizers for the family before we even ordered entrees. I had the soft shell crab for entree and it was delicious, fresh and tasty, hit the spot. The pan fried gnocchi was delightful and not too filling. Food 4/5... More

I went this restaurant with my relatives from Japan. We had lunch from Cafe menu which are reasonable and light. We all enjoyed. However, three hours later, they called me accusing we didn't pay. We had paid by credit card and even left $20 tip! They didn't call me for an apology. This is not pleasant experience and I don't... More

Great modern Australian cuisine set by a log fire in a family cottage overlooking the valley below. First visit in 20 years and a new owner for what was the 'Fork and View' back in the 1980's.

Went here with some overseas relatives, basing my decision on the nice website photos. The location definitely did not disappoint. Perched on top of a cliff face you can see down to the valley below. Service was warm and adequate as well. The two servers at front were more than capable at handling the customers (a busload of tourists arrived... More

We decided to stay in the mountains an extra night so we could experience Solitary for our selves on Wednesday (should have planned ahead & would have realised they are closed Monday & Tuesday). The atmosphere was great with both fine dinning and cafe style food an option, which the staff handled beautifully on a busy day! Shared the Salmon... More

Visited the place for lunch and despite just 60% full on a tuesday they could barely cope. Waited for almost 30min and they still did not take our order. Avoid this place at all cost. Better places to eat and enjoy the scenery.

Solitary provided a warm haven for my wife to wait until I completed the walk from Echo Point. I had a fabulous freshly made (fluffy & light) scone with jam and cream while sitting next to the window looking into the valley.

Only stopped here for a glass of wine in the afternoon and later had a coffee. Sat outside in the sun and looked out across the mountains. Didn't stay for lunch but worth a stop even for a coffee after hiking.

We just had to counter-balance all the bad reviews as have just had one of the best dining experiences in a long while at Solitary. Service was friendly and efficient and food just divine. We highly recommend the alpaca ribs. The Ambience was welcoming and warm so don't be put off by the bad reviews as they are certainly offering... More
