My wife and I had lunch at Solitary. The view is lovely, the parking was easy, and the service was friendly and attentive. We ordered main course only from the quite extensive and interesting menu. When the meals arrived they were delicious. My wife had chicken breast and I had pork belly. Both were cooked perfectly with wonderful accompaniments. I... More

The restaurant completely made up for the lack of scenery. I don't know where some of the other reviewers ate, but it doesn't sound like it was Solitary. Granted the restaurant wasn't busy because of the rain, but we had friendly, helpful service and wonderful food. The rabbit and ham hock terrine was one of the best my husband and... More

We came here for a relatives 50th as a very special occasion as we heard it was very expensive very good food. The food was average- We were so surprised, we expected much better. The decor was nothing particularly special.. it was ok but for the price I just couldn't ever recommend it anyone. This was two years ago and... More

We had a late lunch at Solitary on Sunday, 9th March. The quality of food was good and otherwise consistent with the price tag it came with. I had pan-seared ocean trout and my husband had corn fed chicken breast with corn salsa and chorizo. Both meals were flavoursome, cooked just right and not at all dry. Now, the biggest... More

I dined at Solitary for the second time on Saturday and, if anything, I believe it was even better that the first time. The service was friendly and helpful and the Wagyu eye fillet steak was magnificent. I will definitely return.

I really enjoyed the laid back feel of this well positioned restaurant. the staff took their time but not in a disinterested way, the meal stretched naturally into a dining experience. The food was fantastic, all cooked to perfection and full flavour. We went as a family, two adults and two young teenagers and ordered across the menu with great... More

We booked here expecting a nice meal out. After waiting 15 minutes to order, we waiting over an hour for our meals, with no explanation or apology. The gnocchi was not gnocchi, was fried and stodgy and a tiny portion (8 pieces for a very steep price). We had to wait again to place a dessert order, and then basically... More

We booked in here hoping for a great view on Australia Day. Unfortunately it was overcast and foggy. We still very much enjoyed this restaurant. The food was amazing - I had the soft shell crab and goat curry and my husband had the salmon and steak and we'd recommend them all! We didn't have any wine on the day... More

So pleased that Solitary is back on track under the current owners and returned to its former excellent standard. We very much enjoyed our lunch on Sunday. The staff were professional, pleasant and appropriately attentive without being intrusive. Our food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is in a charming heritage listed weatherboard cottage overlooking Mt Solitary, when... More

We booked this restaurant before reading the other reviews on this website. After reading the reviews, I thought I'd ring and cancel the booking. I'm glad we didn't ! The reviews are so polarised, one wonders if the waiters have different styles on different days. We rang & booked in the early afternoon of the same day for early dinner... More
