I'm crowing about The Rooster!

We visited the Rooster last Saturday night, it was a culinary experience. We did not have the degustation menu but ordered a la carte. I had the escargot, piping hot and delicious. The soup de jour was a winner too. For mains we had the rack of lamb and the duck which was highly recommended... read more

My girlfriend and I were here in late August. The food was superb and the service excellent. I had the "Boeuf Bourguignon" and my girlfriend had the special which was Duck. They were just magnificent, and the duo playing music in the background were excellent. I guess you understand that I highly recommend The Rooster.

I was told by friends about this restaurant - the advice was: outstanding food, friendly French staff and great atmosphere. Having had a three course meal here this week, I agree completely with everything I was told. Delicious meals made with prime ingredients. Staff were friendly, and with their stories of French living, they really helped make our visit a... More

We were here on a foggy and wet Tuesday night. Freezing outside but warm and inviting inside. The French speaking staff were friendly, helpful and a lot of fun. We each had three courses and, rather than a local wine, we tried one of the French offerings. Each course was superb; delicious flavours and beautifully presented. The meat dishes (lamb... More

Seriously you need to go to this restaurant! The gnocchi, yes, the gnocchi- I really want to talk about the gnocchi Beautiful plump, light as a feather pillows of gnocchi in a creamy, dreamy Roquefort and sage sauce, the best gnocchi I have EVER tasted. Anywhere. Oh, yes we had Beef Bourguignon, rack of lamb, sides of potatoes (Parisien style... More

I made a reservation online for my boyfriend and I to celebrate his birthday on a Saturday night. Firstly, I was impressed with the punctual and polite email exchanges with the restaurant manager and meeting my requests for a particular table by the window. The moment we walked into the restaurant we felt welcomed by the staff, a waitress showed... More

I have eaten here in the recent past and really enjoyed the food. Today, a Monday, I booked for a special family occasion. We were shown to our seats by a very pleasant waitress, and ordered drinks. One of our party has difficult food sensitivities, which is one of the reasons why were there on Monday at lunchtime so that... More

Just loved all our dishes - including the wonderful French wines we chose. Will definitely be coming back. The new staff and management seem to be getting their feet but this is some seriously good, simple, French food and hospitality. We were very happy we tried it out this time and would pick it as our number 1 Katoomba restaurant... More

We enjoyed an evening meal at The Rooster on a cold April night. We had a nice table on the enclosed verandah which was nice and warm. The service was very attentive and friendly. We had three courses each which is quite unusual for us - yes the food was that good!! Highly recommended.
