Surprisingly good food and great value considering it's location

Surprisingly good food and great value considering it's location. For a cheap eat I would definitely recommend Five-O's. The food is good and for the price you pay it is great. A very reasonably priced restaurant near the beach, let down by a silly decision. I ordered a staple of Australian dining: the chicken parma. ok not fine dining but if you can't do that right then you aren't trying as a Sydney restaurant. it arrived and was tough, dry, over cooked. I politely sent it back and talked to the... More

The food is fairly reasonable as are the prices. Prices are creeping up slowly but at the time of writing you can still get a 300gm steak under $10. Same with the beer - around $6.50 a schooner for a Hahn Super Dry or a Tooheys. Staff are friendly and the place is kept reasonable clean. Note: No table service.... More

Pretty decent food, but it took forever and the staff wasn't very friendly. Don't go out of your way for Five O's.

5 O’s bills itself as a restaurant and bar, but think of it as a basic pub and you’ll get the idea — except its license doesn’t allow sale of booze without a meal. It takes a large space consisting of two rooms on the first floor and perhaps its best feature is its balcony on two sides of the... More

It's important to get the context correct: Five O's couldn't be further away from a michelin rated restaurant, however it's honest, clean and about as cheap as it gets in Coogee for a sit down meal. Coogee is becoming exceptionally expensive. I love this place for just keeping it simple. It's fair to say that the prices have gone up... More

This place used to be great, now I'm afraid its overpriced for what it is. Ordered a caesar salad and got a miniscule layer of leaves on the plate. Having said that, it was quite tasty. Someone else in our group ordered the spaghetti bolognaise but they just used the same sauce they use for the nachos (which someone else... More

I had just completed the Bondi Beach to Coogee coastal walk and I was feeling peckish before getting the bus back to the centre of town. The Five O's bar & restaurant is strategically across the public bus stops so I dropped by to grab a bite to eat and quench my thirst. I went up to the 1st floor... More

Yes, the food is cheap - and it also tastes that way. "Mash" appeared to be Deb instant potato, the lasagne was the strangest colour that I have ever seen. The garlic bread came straight from the Woolworth's freezer section. To make the night more colourful (than the meals), some friendly locals dropped by, and dropped the "C" bomb word... More

Our favourite place to eat when we visit Sydney. Right across from Coogee Beach. Easy to find a park. Delicious generous meals at affordable prices. Usually order the barramundi with potato mash & salad & I'm never disappointed. Do try the sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce at the end of your meal, you won't be disappointed.
