I had lunch there today. An excellent portion of quiche which gave the impression of being just cooked, with a well prepared mixed salad and coleslaw. With a pot of tea from Bari tea in Alnwick, and a loaf of bread to take home, I got change from £10. Not the cheapest cafe, but excellent food, good friendly service. I... More

We had heard of this via friends and word of mouth as to how how good it was. I don't believe hype as a rule but we were in the area looking at a house we were thinking of buying so stopped off for lunch. What were we left with? ... In this case, do believe the hype! Absolutely lovely... More

A lot of thought has gone in to the Running Fox. It's not just the magnificent cakes, bread and scones that have you salivating as soon as you cross the threshold. They are rather wonderful though. Book a table in advance for lunch, and ask for a window seat. Lovely view over the village which is a delight on a... More

My friend and I had lunch there today and just could not decide what to have as everything looked so lovely. The staff were really nice and the prices were so reasonable. We had booked a table and I am pleased we did as it was busy but still a few tables left. There are 2 floors so if you... More

We visited on the way to our holiday destination and had lunch. We all had quiche, I really enjoyed mine but two others in my party weren't keen on their bacon and Brie quiches. The reason I can't give it excellent is the food they served my three year old. I asked if they could make her a simple grated... More

Been there several times for breakfast (have been very lucky each time to get a table) Agree with the other reviewers that the quality is excellent and the quantity is more than you would normally expect. As a side note the bread is superb ( on each occasion we took a couple of loaves home) Highly recommended - but booking... More

Stopped by the Running Fox last Saturday 'on spec' for a bite of lunch - and what a master-stroke that turned out to be! We were lucky and managed to squeeze in without a reservation. Sitting at a table upstairs looking out on the river and ancient bridge: a very good start. The menu: imaginative and varied - so difficult... More

Be sure to book a table at this popular restaurant - if you don't you may be unlucky! The extensive menu is a feast for the foodie, and portions are gigantic! The food is locally sourced and beautifully presented. It will take us many visits to sample everything!
