Delightful lunch

My wife and I recently decided to visit the Postmaster's Residence - a restaurant we had heard much about but not experienced. The first thing you notice is the delightful setting - this tastefully restored cottage speaks 'welcome'. As it was a warm sunny day we chose to dine outdoors where we... read more

The Postmaster's was our only fine-dining experience in Arrowtown. Service was lovely, food and wine were delicious. We would recommend the Green-lipped mussels and the fish & chips prepared with a local fresh-catch (can't remember the name of the fish) were both excellent. Having tried a couple of other restaurants in Arrowtown, we would rate The Postmaster's as our personal... More

The Postmasters used to be the actual postmaster's cottage before it was converted into a lovely restaurant located right across the road from the Museum-cum-Information Centre. The food was good and the staff were very pleasant. It was toddler-friendly, so that was a plus for us. The ambience is very open and welcoming. We sat outdoors as the weather was... More

We stumbled upon Postmasters on our first night in Arrowtown, and we were very happily surprised. The menu is incredible. We wanted to eat there again the second night, but didn't have time. We ordered the salmon, green lipped mussels, and seafood chowder. The quality and presentation of the food is impeccable, and definitely unexpected. Eating here was a great... More

A bit remiss but I haven't dined at the Postmasters Residence since the new owners took over more than a year ago. I was pleasantly surprised, the food was excellent and the owners have put together an excellent wine list featuring a good selection of local wines. Nice work, will be back.

Postmasters is in a beautifully restored large cottage on Arrowtown's main street and offers indoor and outdoor dining. This evening we chose indoor and enjoyed a shared nut and olive entree followed by a fish curry and a vegetarian meal. Both were beautifully presented and tasty. We finished with excellent sorbets. Service was attentive and relaxed, just how we like... More

We arrived in Arrowtown on a very cold day in Feb and were drawn to this lovely restaurant by their seafood chowder for our lunch. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the service was prompt. The soup was the best seafood chowder we have tasted, it arrived in a bread crust bowl and was filled with seafood in a wonderful... More

The slow cooked lamb is perfectly executed, so tender, tasty and delicious. Accompanied with a puréed carrot and golden kumara with just enough gravy or jus as they call it today. My husband had the Salmon with new potatoes and beans, once again beautifully presented and he says was so delicious he even ate the crusty skin (after all that's... More

We had lunch at this place with the family: 2 adults and 2 kids. The kid had a fish and chips that was great. Crispy ! My wife had the mussels and it was very tasty as well. Place is clean. Staff is very nice and helpful. Definitely a good place.
