Very good with a lovely garden and decent food

This is a really nice spot for lunch in Arrowtown. The food was very good (Asian chicken salad, the lamb loin, and a really nice piece of beef were our entrees). Service was decent, and the prices fine. I have found Amisfield a bit haughty in trying to get a table, and found the Postmaster's... read more

Warm and cosy environment with welcoming staff set the scene for a lovely evening. Hadn't eaten here before - will return. Good menu both for food and wine. Waiter was helpful with our selections. Portion sizes were generous and delicious- choice were lamb and steak both cooked perfectly and with great flavours. Good value.

The food was delicious and had local ingredients. The waitress made a real effort to entertain our toddler and the kids menu was great.

The restaurant, located in the old restored postmasters residence, is fabulously decorated and has a clean but cozy feel. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were special guests. The waiter was attentive and had a very good understanding of all the food on the menu, and his recommendation of the lamb was spot on. One would... More

THANK YOU. All staff and Chef. Reception, menu, atmosphere, AND FOOD!!!. Amazing. Truly tasteful. Friendly, helpful. It was the best evening I have had in a very long time. Apart from the above, the chef here really knows how food should look and taste. Fresh, flavoursome and beautifully served. I hope to spread the word to many of my acquaintances... More

Lovely ambience, we sat outside and it was perfect. Waiter was friendly and attentive and very helpful. We were three persons and the food was well presented and looked good. Unfortunately the steak that two of us ordered was the worse, ruff east piece of sirloin we had tasted since we arrived in New Zealand two weeks ago.! The chef... More

My wife and I recently decided to visit the Postmaster's Residence - a restaurant we had heard much about but not experienced. The first thing you notice is the delightful setting - this tastefully restored cottage speaks 'welcome'. As it was a warm sunny day we chose to dine outdoors where we enjoyed the cool breeze, gardens and lawn. The... More

The Postmaster's was our only fine-dining experience in Arrowtown. Service was lovely, food and wine were delicious. We would recommend the Green-lipped mussels and the fish & chips prepared with a local fresh-catch (can't remember the name of the fish) were both excellent. Having tried a couple of other restaurants in Arrowtown, we would rate The Postmaster's as our personal... More

The Postmasters used to be the actual postmaster's cottage before it was converted into a lovely restaurant located right across the road from the Museum-cum-Information Centre. The food was good and the staff were very pleasant. It was toddler-friendly, so that was a plus for us. The ambience is very open and welcoming. We sat outdoors as the weather was... More

We stumbled upon Postmasters on our first night in Arrowtown, and we were very happily surprised. The menu is incredible. We wanted to eat there again the second night, but didn't have time. We ordered the salmon, green lipped mussels, and seafood chowder. The quality and presentation of the food is impeccable, and definitely unexpected. Eating here was a great... More
