great big open fire inside and a lovely spacious terrace overlooking the River and woods - good selection of beer!
Staff were friendly and the atmosphere is what you would expect from a pub setting. The meals are too expensive for what they are off the menu, and everything seems to come with chips, rather than vegetables. We have been here a couple of times, but I think I would not go back as the value aspect had slipped.
I ordered lamb shank and my partner ordered the Sunday roast. Apart from the two different meat, the plates arrived looking identical - boiled peas, carrots and same gravy, all of which were as tasteless and bland as the Sunday roast (pork) and lamb. Terrible dinner on a Sunday night. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We actually stayed overnight at the New Orleans. The rooms were clean and well kept. Staff was very friendly and provided great service. The food was good and well priced and there was live music on the patio out back! Doesn't get any better!
Admittedly we were there late for a meal so a few things were off the menu despite the board saying they were available. The meals we had were average.
We stayed in Arrowtown for a week. Awesome place to relax if you ever wanr to go anywahere just to get away. The food here at this hotel/pub is good pub fare. What you would expect at a bistro. Big meals. Good food. Inside is tired and gloomy though. The open fire seems to be on a lot and smokes... More
We arrived just as the kitchen was about to close, but the manager, extremely kindly arranged for us to have a delicious steak which was just what we fancied. On that basis alone we would go back.
We stopped in here for lunch on our way to Omarama from Milford sound. The stop was welcomed and the service was friendly and quick. The food was lovely and satisfying. The pricing was reasonable.
I had cajun chicken lunch time today - now have food poisoning. Dont go to this restaurant. Staff pleasant, food boring - nothing special. Avoid the fruit smoothies, maybe one blueberry in my blueberry smoothie.
THIS REVIEW WAS WRITTEN BY AN EX EMPLOYEE who was upset at being dismissed from his employment. Damian made it very clear that this is what he would do. We adhere to all council regulations, our fridge temperatures are checked as per the Queenstown Council guidelines. We have contacted trip advisor to have this review removed. More
A roomy, family friendly pub. We enjoyed tender steak and a hearty pork roast, yum. The rock music being played didn't appeal to me but no big deal. We had local beer with our meal. Very nice.
