Fantastic village pub

My fiancé and I visited the pub this evening on our way back from Bruton, and had a great time. We arrived at 1730 and with it being a Sunday, we knew food wasn't being served until 1800. The lady behind the bar seemed a bit flustered, but was perfectly polite. We were told the menu was being... read more

Bank holiday monday and my wife and I fancied lunch out. We had eaten at the Three Horseshoes before so thought we'd give it another try. I know it was a bank holiday but the menu limited to say the least. First impressions the place was filthy, god knows what state the kitchen was in. The staff looked like they... More

Firstly i would like to apologise for your experience here last Bank Holiday Monday - I am completely shocked, as we had a great day with many compliments. As we are unlikely to see you again, for the rest of the World I need to go through each point to clarify. Filthy - We have a cleaner who works very... More

Lovely large and welcoming bar with 2 fires/log burners either end of the room, separate dining area as well. Good choice of beers although my partner was a little disappointed that there were no Wild Beer Company beers on draught at the time but he enjoyed the real ale on tap. Glad we booked for Sunday lunch in the bar,... More

Stopped for a beer. Had a good selection and the Wild Beer Co Fresh from up the road was really well kept. Staff really friendly. Log fires were on. A proper, high quality country pub stumbled upon - an all too rare occurrence.

We booked and ate here last night. I could waffle on about how lovely the service was and the ambiance of the bar, but really all I want to do is rave about the quality of the food! I had the rack of lamb which was exquisite, cooked perfectly with a gorgeous port jus. My daughter had the chicken and... More

absolutely fantastic We called for Sunday lunch after discovering it surfing the net We were not disappointed The owner "Kev" ? Made us very welcome and although I had booked about 2 months ago he had kept a table by the fire for us as promised I really can't talk highly enough of this gastro pub and we will defiantly... Cosy pub if eat in the main bar area and good atmosphere with friendly team . Food ; fish was good but the hamburgers tasted like they were bought in and other local pub/bar/restaurants fare better and so this suffers by comparison. Bar atmosphere was boosted my middle aged men who had finished their yoga and had fortunately changed out... More

Really glad you enjoyed your evening with us and we hope to see you very soon. I just need to point out that we make our own burgers - NOT bought in. In fact the night before we cooked and delivered 54 of them on request by a famous local restaurant in Bruton. More

New Year's Day and you're never quite sure whether an impromptu lunch will be a success. The Three Horseshoes got it right for us. A warm and friendly welcome, delicious foxy bitter from Warwickshire and very appetising food on offer for those who had a hankering for something a little different.after the Christmas indulgence. We had superb field mushrooms on... More

I confess I'm biased towards this pub. I live in the village, I'm friends with the landlord and it is my local. I don't have to write a review but they excelled themselves this weekend. It was my father's 80th birthday and the pub hosted us for supper on Friday, breakfast on Sunday whilst they had two couples to stay... More

Surely you cant go wrong with ham, egg and chips? 'Ham on the bone' sounded good and we just wanted a straightforward meal. What we got was shocking - clearly out of a plastic packet, slimy and cut in thick, shiny, squares. Both of us (good, non fussy eaters) couldn't eat it at all, so lunch was egg and chips.... More

I have just noticed this review, as we don't check TripAdvisor that often, hence the 3 week delay. Apologies you had a dismal experience. It seems that we have been let down by a relief chef whilst one of our regular chefs was on holiday. I had noticed that he had under cooked the pork shoulder that I hammed /... More
