The burgers are definitely better than the fish and chips

I can see that this review will be bucking the trend, however I think personally that the fish and chips are a little bit to be desired, and I had a feeling that would be the case which is why I ordered a Hawaiian Burger. So the burger was beautiful, the meat pattie was obviously made fresh you... read more

Ate takeaways at this place after the 3rd stage of the Tour of Northland. Food was fantastic, as was Judith and Alan (owners). Strongly recommend making a point of getting takeaways from this place. Then take a walk down to the wharf and sit and eat.

We had delicious fish and chips here, local Tarakihi fish which was battered,(if there is Tarakihi available definitely get it, it has quite a firm but subtle flavour). The chips portions was huge- One between two is probably enough. We also tried the battered scallops, battered oysters and kumera chips. Get the fish and chips to go and head around... More

Lovely fish and chips. We own a fish and chip shop at home so are quite fussy, we weren't dissappointed.

We had great fish and chips here for only $10. Better than I have had for more than double the price in some restaurants. The friendly ladies are happy to tell you which of the fish are fresh off the boat, and much to our joy it was served the proper way - in newspaper.

Fantastic food and great value! We gravitated here after paying a huge amount of money for a snack on the foreshore and filled up on Yummy Fish and Chips!!

Took Dutch travellers for Fish and Chips in Russell. Crusty Crab did not disappoint. Fresh and superbly cooked fish and great chips. Sat at a table on the waterfront and watched the afternoon roll on. Divine way to spend a lunchtime.

We wanted fish and chips and was advised to got to the Crusty Crab rather than the more upmarket restaurants. We were very happy with the food and the price. We had crumbed dory - lovely and moist in a crisp crumbed coating and some real (thick) chips. Just like when we were kids!

We went for fish & chips on New Year's day after the excesses of the night before (sat on the grass by the sea - can't be beaten). Even though the fresh fish of the day had run out, the (I guess frozen?) fish tasted fresh to me - it was succulent and very tastey. Good chips as well. We... More

Look its a takeaway that does a lovely fish and reasonable chips at a decent price just off the main front at Russell. We have been a few times now and you can sit outside but we get them wrapped up then take the short walk to the front and eat them on a bench. Brilliant.
