Yummy food enjoyed by the fire

We ate here twice during our four night stay in Nelson. The ambience was cosy and warm with a table by the fire and a lovely meal paired with a beer or cider. Ate here in June twice when in Nelson for two nights for work with a colleague. Conveniently located around the corner from the Rutherford at the top of Victoria St this place has warm friendly staff, great selection of beers and good wholesome food for a fair price. I had Pork Belly and colleague had roast lamb first night which... More

This is by far my favourite place to go to. Great food and great atmosphere. The live music on the weekends are fantastic.

We recently spent five days in Nelson and after four nights of good meals eating Thai, Italian etc. we were desperate for a home style meal. That's when we discovered the Sunday roast at The Vic. They offered both beef and lamb roast with generous portions and a apple crumble thrown in for free, all for the cost of 16.95... More

I was hoping for something special as the Vic had come recommend. Unfortunately I was not that impressed by either the service (I was served my meal so late my companions had nearly finished theirs) or the 'funky' serving dish. It was nothing more than a baking tray with a bit of paper lining the bottom. I don't know if... More

As a vegan I am not an easy person to provide for. At places like this I usually have to miss out on food. But today I had to come to this place for lunch as a result of my job and work colleagues, and I have to say I was very pleased with how well I was looked after!... More

After wandering around downtown Nelson and finding several potential places to dine we decided upon The Vic Brewbar based upon the type of food offered and the relatively reasonable prices. Food is typical pub style dishes. We had roast lamb (very good), pulled pork (not bad) and some good beers. It was a nice, relatively quite pub which we enjoyed.

On our first night in Napier my wife and I were looking for a lovely but homely place to eat and fortunately we came across The Vic Brewbar. This evening it was quiet and we were made very welcome by Rachel and Vicky and who made us feel at home. A glass on New Zealand white wine to start with... More
