It is ordinary

a relatively cheap eating place and not very exciting. Food is very average and the only good thing is that the serving staff is very efficient and responsive.

The classic pub setting and location were both great. The beer was good, the food was mediocre, overly salty seafood chowder, chicken salad, was poor, wilted greens, packaged croutons. We thought Nelson was famous for it's crafted beers and we tried hard to find just the one! Way better in Central Oregon!

We stopped here for a few cold ones, one hot January afternoon, whilst down in Nelson for several days. Great choice of local beers and wine; Staff really helpful and gave my hubby some suggestions for beer. We ended up coming back for dinner later that night. I had the good old NZ "fish and chips" which was delicious and... More

We were in Nelson on new year's day to experience the start of the Nelson jazz and blues festival. We sat outside the bar and had a lovely beer in the sunshine prior to making our way to Fairfield Park for the jazz. We asked a member of staff for directions and it turned out they had never heard of... More

We went to the Vic Brewbar in Nelson for lunch after receiving a voucher from them. I had the leek and blue cheese tart and my husband had pulled pork sandwich. Mine came with a lovely little salad and beetroot cream, the pulled pork sandwich came with fries, both were nicely cooked and well presented. As a member of the... More

Breakfast s are only available on the weekend but was well worth it. Had the $10 breakfast, not big but more than enough for my daughter and I. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Great food, awesome staff with a fantastic atmosphere. Lots going on with an open mic night and bands every weekend. Highly recommend.

This bar is typical of the Mac Brew Bar chain. Very clean and tidy with slightly overpriced food and drinks. Consistently good but nothing exceptional. It frequently has live music so try and catch a show while in Nelson. Nelson has more small breweries than anywhere else in New Zealand. I am not sure why a person traveling would choose... More

Hi, Thank you for reviewing us, and we hope that you have enjoyed/are enjoying your stay in Nelson. While we are a Mac's Brewbar, it's important for us that people are aware The Vic is not a part of a chain. The Vic is independently owned and simply contracted to sell Mac's beer, which does in fact, originate from Nelson.... More

Total lack of attention to customers! Expect more from a bar so central to the town centre! Did go here for a second visit which was a lot more pleasent as there were different staff from the night before
