Description: Winner of Best Cafe in Nelson 2011 by Cafe Magazine. Bright, busy cafe in an historic building in central Nelson. Strong following of loyal locals but plenty to entice visitors as well. The menu changes seasonally and focuses on fresh, natural flavours that build on a number of ethnic cuisine styles. Our breakfasts have a large fan base with favourites like the Bacon & Eggs and Morrison Street's Local Breakfast staying on the menu year after year. Lunch includes Caribbean Lamb with Pumpkin & Feta, a Chicken & Chorizo Paella and a Mussel & Saffron Soup. There's plenty of fresh baking each day, a healthy kids menu and our coffee is excellent. There are lots of options for wheat, gluten & dairy sensitive people and vegetarians as well.

Have tried Morrisons several times and the staff do work hard to welcome you, the coffee is good and the menu works for me, but is it because it is always busy that it is noisy, and hard to find a seat, so end up sitting too close to other people, or on the bar by the window?

We were so disappointed to receive poor service at this cafe during lunch. The food and coffee was good but 2 of the staff were really rude and not interested in serving us at all. We had to wait for ages for our order to be taken and put up with grumpy attitudes. Later on another staff member who was... More

Coffee is always excellent and the food is not your usual fare - everything has a slightly different twist and is always delicious. I had lunch (the lamb/couscous) and breakfast (bagel) and both were perfect in flavour and plate size.

Wide range of cooked and continental breakfasts really well and unusually presented. Well worth going to as an alternative to the usual boring breakfast cafes. I had an omelette which was particularly good.

My husband and I love coming to Morrisons for lunch. The food is consistently good and they always have a variety of gluten free goodies. Coffee is fantastic.

Thanks Jenny. We love to cater for those with food sensitivities and allergies - we know how hard it can be to eat out. Thankfully coffee is wheat and gluten free! More

Good staff, good food, open early and not too expensive. Plenty of variety for the hearty starter and the slow waker. Lots of business meetings with visiting consultants around to provide a floor show, but plenty of Real People, too. Excellent way to start a busy day.

Have been coming here for years. One of the best cafes if not THE best cafe in Nelson. Friendly staff who remember your likes and dislikes and how you want a large jug of hot water on the side etc. The food is consistently good and yummy. The portion sizes are excellent and in fact contrary to other comments on... More
