Multiple Winner of Best Cafe in Nelson. Bright, busy cafe in an historic building in central Nelson. Strong following of loyal locals but plenty to entice visitors as well. The menu changes seasonally and focuses on fresh, natural flavours that build on a number of ethnic cuisine styles. Our breakfasts have a large fan base with favourites like the Bacon & Eggs and Morrison Street's Local Breakfast staying on the menu year after year. Lunch includes Caesar Salad, Moroccan Pearl Couscous Salad and Chicken Tostada. There's plenty of fresh baking each day, a healthy kids menu and our coffee is excellent. There are lots of options for wheat, gluten & dairy sensitive people and vegetarians as well.

Great food, great staff

There's lots of choices in the street but Morrison's has a good menu and really attentive staff. Coffee very good, can recommend Venison Gyoza

The one thing I love about Morri St is that it never fails. It is always good. The staff are great, friendly, helpful and usually very interesting people :-) The food is always reliably great. It is presented well, the menu is always enticing, often hard to make a choice! A fantastic location, and is always busy which is a... More

This cafe is obviously very popular as it was overflowing with customers, busy and lively. We asked to share a table and met some lovely new people/friends. The service was slow but well worth the wait, although my husbands scone did not apear until after i went up to ask for it. The food was delicious including a great selection... More

This cafe is let down by its poor service. The food is quite good, but you often have to wait a long time to be seated despite there being a lot of staff floating around, there's a good chance you won't get what you ordered and you'll have to wait ages to pay. Last time we arrived at the counter... More

First day in Nelson, we asked our hostess for a good place to get lunch. She recommended Morrison's. It was full when we arrived but managed to get a table within five minutes. The waiters and kitchen staff are busy, giving the place a buzzy ambience. We ordered light bites: Traditional bruschetta and venison gyozas. We also ordered the mango,... More

I like the actual cafe, the space is good with big long tables and a good layout. There is always a bustling convivial atmosphere inside and tables outside for eating/drinking al fresco. Staff are pleasant enough if a tad hurried and distracted. We visited for breakfast and the menu was varied and interesting. We both opted for a full cooked... More

Morrison Cafe Nelson is in a great location, especially when you are shopping. Food is fresh and wholesome. Coffee is great. The outdoor eating area is small and cute. I enjoyed sitting on the bar stools at the big open window facing the street. Busy little cafe with lots going for it

There are not many cafes these days, it seems, offering table waiting for your coffees but at Morrison Street Cafe this is what you get. Just find a seat and the great service comes to you. Very nice coffee as well. A quirky offering as well are the large bags of coffee grinds advertised as "soil conditioner" which you can... More

This place is in a great location and the staff are all very friendly, It is however very very noisy. This is in part due to the wooden floors and fact that it is very popular but certainly isn't helped by the yelling out of staff. When an order is ready the kitchen, staff yell out and this is responded... More

Pretty much every dietary need is catered for at this bustling eatery, and the counter laden with house-baked goodies is pretty irresistible as well. We loved the wholemeal pancakes (17.5), a very generous stack layered with sautéed apple and a star anise-spiced syrup for an extra boost of flavour. There was a whole lot of promise in the lambs fry... More

Thank you for nice, honest review of Morrison Street Cafe. We appreciate the time taken to do this, and also the great pics that you have put up. We have a new menu out since your visit but a lot of the favourites have remained. The pancakes now come with a delicious salted caramel sauce - very yummy. More
