A very 'French Bistro' feeling restaurant and menu. The food is good, service is always excellent and décor and ambience great. It does feel a little like being in a restaurant in France. The only 'French' type restaurant in Nelson.

We have been here several times for lunch, most recently on a wet summer day between Christmas and New Year. Everywhere was busy and we needed somewhere pleasant for a catch up with out of towners. This was the perfect choice. The staff obligingly pushed two small tables together for the four of us. We were served promptly. The coffee... More

French Cuisine includes that offered by “Bouchons” or family restaurants that cook traditional meals (not haute cuisine). La Gourmandise is the best example of this style of cuisine that I have found in Nelson. The emphasis in such establishments is on a convivial atmosphere and a hospitable host. La Gourmandise has been established for over two years, expanded in size... More

This great little restaurant has the best atmosphere, and a great hostess, genuinely French, through and through. The crepes and galettes are excellent and the meals are homestyle and flavoursome.

My sister and I booked a table here for a meal on a Saturday night. It was quite busy but the staff were coping well and they were very pleasant We each chose an entree and a main course. I had the Pate de Campagne which came with some baguette, cornichons and lettuce. The Pate was so dry that it just... More

A fabulous French experience ... caught up with a girlfriend over lunch - fresh asparagus & beetroot salad on top of the most divine egg crepe ... a deliciously light and healthy meal. The galette and crepes menu is large offering savoury and sweet options. Great wait staff and we'll definately eat here again.

We started the meal with a Beaujolais and the Entree, Main and Desert were stunning. The staff and waiters were very good which made this a really nice night out. A great French experience.

You have to visit here if you like galette or crepes. Again better than anything you can get from Auckland and as good as in France!!!

One of the best cappacinos in Nelson, and the crepes were divine. Excellent choice for morning tea. And my daughter loved playing with the French puzzle book! Great service and beautiful atmosphere.

I just love this place! The main attraction is the Galettes..but one can still have steak/fish etc which is on the menu. But for me...this is my kind of food..the special (at the moment)is a smoked salmon salad.... Just wait for the fig season...the special is even more special..but right now the special has strips of galette "tagliatelle " style... More
